Sound barrier

A large problem we have when camping with the granddaughters is the snoring noises coming from Grandpa's room which keeps them awake. Part of the criteria when shopping for a new trailer was a solid door between the bedroom and living area. Most of what we saw had 3" gaps top and bottom which would be useless as a sound barrier. We ended up buying a trailer that had no accommodation in this regard.

I had one of those self inflating air mattresses with the foam inside that fit perfectly in the little hallway between the rooms. I glued and screwed a piece of wood with velcro on the ceiling which holds the top up and we jam the mattress into place at night. We crack the roof vent in the bathroom for ventilation. We take it down and stand it at the foot of the bed during the day. No more complaints about noise.

There should be an escape hatch in the bedroom in case of a fire.

A CPAP helps people with Sleep Apnea, but it is not a cure for snoring. People with Sleep Apnea usually snore, but here are plenty of people that snore that don't have Sleep Apnea.

Not always. DW has taken the over night sleep test, the over night oxygen test, and it has been determined that she has no sleep apnea. However. she snores LOUD, and it is hard to stay in the same room with her. So after nearly $3000.00 in tests, we are no closer to a fix but thanks to the ACA insurance situation in the US today. we are over 2K in debt.

Great solution! How about a photo of the mattress in place?

As for the CPAP, not everyone who snores has sleep apnea. Many people just snore.

No sleep apnea here. Dutchmensport, you must know me personally as I have been known to blame it on Grandma.

Sorry, no pictures. The trailer is wrapped up tight for the winter.

I see this isn't a question - you've solved your problem.

OP was passing on a solution to a problem and how he fixed it. This is OK in the DIY. No question necessary, just passing on good DIY info fixes here for someone else who may have a similar fix needed.

DIY (Do It Yourself), I love it when folks get creative and come up with solutions themselves instead of simply paying someone else to do it.

Seriously, he needs to discuss it with a doctor, and see about a sleep study. If A CPAP will work for him, He will love everyone for suggesting it. His sleep and rest will be Much improved, and it might extend his life somewhat.

Perhaps a broader - and healthier - solution would be a sleep study and CPAP for Grandpa...
