Best RV toilet

Can anyone suggest the best toilet to put into our 5th wheel. We currently have Aqua Magic Style Plus. This is our 4th winter using the trailer, the first two being short stays. The handle fell off and will not stay on now. Looks like we will have to replace and do not want the same toilet as we have a neighbor here that is having the same issue with the same toilet. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. We are considering trying a front pedal for the next toilet. Certainly won't buy another one of this type.

On my second Aqua Magic Style 11 Plus. The foot pedal problem is well known. The spring on the pedal also weakens over time and becomes useless. You cannot order the spring separately (the last time I checked). In 7 years of full timing I have replaced 5 toilets......did repairs on a few but for the time and effort felt $100-$150 for a new one was my best option.(others have different opinions) The longest lasting one I ever had was the cheapest plastic one I could find....3 years. In the case of rv toilets simple is best IMO. The worst one I had was a Dometic electric flush.

We have a SeaLand 510+ toilet in our Excel. Closest thing I've seen to a residential toilet in an RV.

Our style plus has the front peddle and it sure beats the aqua magic V's we've had. I just connected the hand sprayer hose to the inlet water line so it will be live and have much better pressure. I also just put on an open front man seat. Craig

I had the Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II ( Side Foot Flush) that had a similar problem. I investigated both repair and replacement. Replacement won out. I selected Thetford Aqua Magic Style Plus (Front Foot Flush) for primarily for the ease of replacement from what was available. The difference that I watched was the water connection. In my case the water line came through the floor offset a little and the Style Plus required a little more offset but I had the slack below the floor.
We like the new toilet, I would never install a Hand flush.

Ditto. Out of the last five rv's we have had and it is the only plastic one we have owned. Flushes better and the swirl around the bowl cleans better. I put the riser under it and it sits better now. Think they make it in porcelain but am happy with it as is.

I'll second the Porcelin Dometic 310. It sets tall and cleans itself easier than the plastic models. I had a minor issue with mine and called dometic to ask questions about it and they just had me peel off the label and read them the model and serial# and sent me a complete new toilet within 4 days, free of charge. Told me to keep the other one for spare parts.

the dometic 310 is probably the best toilet ever made for rv's. the way the water jets are angled in the bowl lets it wash the sides easily and really gets the water swirling aiding in flushing solids without the old bearclaw.

Take note of any cabinet or shower doors that swing over the toilet and make sure the new one still allows them to open.
We bought a new SeaLand toity and the shower door that has to swing over it only cleared it by .2 inches. That was a close one!

FWIW, I like our SeaLand unit but it makes a fairly loud "thunk" when it flushes and it uses a lot of water - which I like.

Sorry, the handle I was talking about is the side foot pedal.

Yeah i don't think there is much difference. Porcelain is what I prefer but the plastic bowls are just fine. The mechanisms, i believe, are fairly similar unless you have a macerator version. Not sure there is significant differences between them otherwise.

Head on over to camping world or your local dealer and check them out, sit on them and see what fits you.

What handle are you talking about on a style plus? We've had 3 style plus and they have one foot pedal in the front and no handle on any part on the toilet. All parts and pieces are readily available for this unit and easy to repair. rockin'

On edit: You may have one of the Aqua Magic models and not the style plus. May want to check to see exactly what you have. If indeed you have one of the Aqua Magic....you may be right in getting rid of it. I think they are older models. The new Thetford Residential model in the high profile may be what you want. It look likes china but only weighs 10 lbs.

Go test out the different brands of porcelain toilets and pick the one you think is the most comfortable. There is not much difference between them until you get to the really expensive ones. Remember, there are two heights of pots out there. I wish we have toe tall one but we are both tall people.
