First time camping with my Fifth Wheel. What chemicals should I put in my black tank to break down the solids? Thanks in advance!

We've been using Potty Toddies for 18 years of fulltiming, in the same Carriage 5th wheel with the original tank, and have never had a problem. I drop one tap in the toilet after Dutch drains the black tank if the weather is 74 degrees or under. It it is above 75, I use two tablets. I buy them at Camping World. It is a no muss no fuss solution and what works for us. Hugs, Di

X2!

Not ever having traveled south in my MH the first summer I decided to stay in Florida I learned REAL quick about the "double dosage" chems for the black tank! :W:B

Water, water and more water. Third year camping and have never used any chemicals. At the lake we stay 4-5 days before dumping with no odors. Rinse the tank really well and add a couple gallons of water and your good to go.

ยผ cup water softner, 1 teaspoon dishwashing liquid, 1 gallon of water! Keeps things clean and fresh! No harsH chemicals to screw things up! Also, when flushinf always use plenty of water! The holding tank does just that it holds the stuff, until you dump it, which should not be more than a few days. After dumping add water, and the previous receipe to keep things flowing! Good luck!

The Geo Method has worked for us for as long as I can remember plus you do not have to go online or to an rv store to get it....Grocery stores, and Dollar General, WalMart etc. sells the Calgon and Pine Sol. 10 days is the longest we have used our black tank and it still did not stink.....

For years and years there have been holding tank chemicals for marine and RV holding tanks. They were made for a reason. Your holding tank is not your mommas house sewage system. We have small pipes, bends and blades and sensors on the inside. All places for stuff to stick and clog.

If you don't want garbage stuck all over the inside of your tank and sensors, smells when you flush coming up into your RV, and don't want to experience clogs in the pipes and valve blades to ruin a good camping trip use this. All the others just add 'perfume' to the tank and does nothing but smell up your RV with a nasty perfume smell.

Thetford makes 2 types one to appease the greenies and this one. The labels look similar. Be sure to read the label and it says breaks down waste and powerful odor control.

20 years on the road now and my sensors always work and I have never had one incidence of sewer smells in the MH zip zero.:W

We use this...Blue Streak

It's an automatic dispenser, so you don't need to fool with it each time you dump...just fill the reservoir and forget it, till the water in the bowl turns clear. Best product we have found...:B
