external wastegate for drianing tanks

What is the part called that can hook to the tank drain opening cap area that will serve the purpose of being an external wastegate?

The gate to the black tank seal isn't working so when I take the cap off I get a gallon of fecal matter on the ground. I had it at the dealer and they said the seal is fine. Wrong.

A friend said that I can buy an external wastegate that will mount where the outer drain cap is mounted right now. Then I can prevent the spillage. I need to know what this product is called so I can buy it. I have tried searches and cannot figure it out.

I have one on my 5er also. I found that after dumping the black tank and grey tanks that there is always some residue that doesn`t come down the pipes right away. It will migrate there after I think the tanks are completely drained. My valves close just fine. I got tired of taking the cap off and getting my feet covered in gunk. Last summer I had the black water tank valve cable stop working and it would take too long to get the part as we were 2000 miles from home and about to return, so the black water valve was left in the open position and the end of the line gate valve was used as a black water and grey water valve.

I've got the same problem, use the valve pictured as a temporary fix till I feel like pulling down the belly pan that encloses the tanks. I'd rather spend a weekend camping than on my back under it playing with the tanks....;)

And,it's well worth the money ! I put on on after the first "accident".I'm on the second one now,after over 5 years.
(It was easier to replace it that install a new gasket.)

It is called Twist on Waste Valve by Valterra. I just bought one when I was going by Camping World. I think Amazon has them also.

We too use the spin on valve. With these remote cable operated valves, after shutting the valve there is still moisture and other things that move down to the cap over time so you get a little water out when removing the cap. The extra valve eliminates this.

I have had a spin on valve on the end of my drain for 3 years and about 20,000 miles. Best thing EVER. Never had a problem with it falling off. If it bothers you glue it in place. Should be standard equipment on every trailer.

The twist on valve linked in 'Brewurown' post goes right on the end of drain line.

Useful but I found it too be a problem.......we travel and I didn't want it hanging out there unsupported so it would have to be installed each time when setting up.

I purchased a complete valve and flanges then installed it permanently on the horizontal run just before the elbow where drain pipe turns out. Used a piece of aluminum to make a strap/support.

One of the grey water valves cable operator broke off with valve in open position. Installing the 'new' drain valve at end of pipe was easier than dropping the underbelly (or cutting a window in it) to get at OEM valve for repairs.

Waste water waiting for you behind the end cap means that waste valve(s) are leaking thru.
Many times it is due to 'stuff' being stuck in grove keeping the valve blade from fully closing. Back flushing with a hose and nozzle up thru drain line will sometimes clear the obstruction.

The valve that Al & Eva posted should do the trick. However, since you are going to add an attachment to the drain, you might want to get a FLUSH KING so that you can see if there is leakage and also know when the flow has stopped (clear connection). It will also provide the capability to back flush the black tank's opening (it will sometimes get clogged with tp and other stuff) and as an added bonus, it will allow you to put water back into the black tank to help rinse it out.

I have three valves; one for sewer (black), one for galley and one for bathroom (gray). All three tanks empty into the large (I think 3 inch diameter) drain pipe that goes under the trailer. If I want to just empty my gray, I open the gray valve and it empties to the drain pipe. Same for the other two valves. If you put a valve at the end of the 3 inch drain pipe you will not be able to empty just the grey or galley without empting the sewer as well. If you are going to fix it, do it right. Repair of replace the sewer valve. Your dealer needs to operate your waste valve in front of you so you both know it works right.
