So far not liking my new 20 k reese hitch. It is the pro series and I think its a cheaper version. Had the dealer put a new rails and hitch in when I bought my new dually. I think iam going back to my 16k b&w hitch. I find I hear a lot of banging from it . Its not my pin box I know that. I can grab this thing and move it around by hand and it bangs.

I got rid of my Reese Pro. What a POS!! My new B&W is night and day better. I recently spent 2 weeks on the road and was so much more confident with the B&W. Reese is junk!!

I also have 20K Pro Series Reese. I traded trucks and got 2017 GMC with the puck system and was considering a B&W hitch but for GM they make nothing heavier than 20k. for GM.
I liked the B&W for the fact that there is a full inch or better of contact on the inside of the jaws to the pin.
I checked out Curt who made a 24k hitch and the inside of the jaws making contact was 3/16 of an inch and the outside about 9/16 so I purchased the adaptors from pullrite to accept or convert from rail to puck system and used my 20k reese. I have only used for one 1800 mile trip and was getting a small movement noise by the time we got home. The puck adaptors use a wrap around roll pin to hold them in and one had compressed a we bit. When I reinstalled my hitch for Florida I tightened the puck a bit tighter.
There was definitely less movement and noise with same hitch in this system.
The other factor about Reese is China.

B&W rates to the lowest denominator. They feel the connections they are given only allow them to rate to 20K. Even so I would trust their hitch any day over the competition that rates higher.

I have to junk my 16K Reese slider. The pivot bolts on the horizontal pivot are worn out and the bolts cant downward. The Nylock nuts won't hold anymore and even after I tighten them as tight as I can the bolts still cant downward. The bolts don't look worn so I suspect the yoke and pivot are worn out. I've always had banging from chucking, even when new and even with a nylon plate installed. Now I know the cause.

I'm having trouble understanding how the nylon sheets are stopping banging??

I had a similiar problem with my Reese Pro. The head will move forward and back about 1/8 of an inch on the lateral pivot pin that can bee seen above and to the left of the R in Reese logo.

If you look at my picture you can see where I inserted a couple 1/8 inch heavy duty nylon sheets that are held in place by the two
1/4 inch bolts you can see.

I put the sheets toward the front so that there was no pressure on them while under way and trailer pulling the hitch head to the back of the hitch.

I didn't like my Reese 20K when we first got it mainly because the trigger was too sensitive and it kept relatching when I was trying to unhook. Then it behaved for 5 years until this summer when it made horrible popping and baning noises. I thought I had a broken pin box and I spent a lot of labor disassembling the front of the rig to find nothing wrong. It was the hitch - it needed grease on the front / back pivot.

The hitch flexes a lot and I think that contributes to chucking.

I wish I still had the Hijacker 24K I had in my last truck.

My reese makes a little creaking an groaning when backing around.

So what is the big deal on that. It doesn't bother me, or must not cus i have not put pads under the legs.

Let her rip tader chip. :W

i can just see the reese bashers rallying around the ole camp fire. Now we have something to talk about. :R

I think using the Patriot would be the better choice. The 16k would be able to handle your FW, but if you feel more is better, the 18K Patriot is another choice. It is a welded together version of the 16K, that is bolted together. You could sell both current hitches, get the 18K Patriot, and maybe have a few $$$ left over.
