How fast do you fellow class Aer's drive? If you have good road conditions and are towing, how fast would you go? I am new to class A's, Very comfortable driving, My last trip I was averaging about 61mph towing. Looking for some insight from o you more experienced folks. I have Precept 35UN, gas, Ford V10, and towing a dolly with a Ford Fusion on it.
Thanks!

Both in our last coach, a V10 gasser, and in our current coach, a 340HP DP, I hold it right around 63-65 mph. Sure, it will run faster with ease, but I feel more comfortable with the control at those speeds and it's not like I'm in a huge hurry to get to my destination. On a DP, look for the speed that gets you around 1,700 RPM - that should be the sweet spot for you.

You must have a 5 speed trans.... both of our coaches have/had a 6 speed Allison that run about 1,500 rpm's at 60 mph.

Both coaches would shift into sixth at 55 mph. On the current coach, once I shift into sixth at 55 mph, it will stay there until 50 mph then downshift to fifth.

MM.

(Disclaimer)... I will be in the coach next week and will double check my RPM's at 55-60 mph. Sometimes going by memory has gotten me in trouble. LOL!

I followed truck speed limits, since the RV we had was essentially a tarted-up panel truck.

1 whole mpg for 3 mph difference? :h

Yup. 62 is the best for my mileage. When it was 4.20 a gallon really could see the difference in the wallet, so just learnt to keep it 62.

I tried to keep up with traffic one day in AZ and I was a wreck. I am not comfortable at much above 60. By that I mean I don't feel I am in total control with some of the speed demons on the road. I try to pace myself by my appraisal of my reaction time.

We just bought a Winnie with the V10 and Banks Power, steer safe and all in all a better chassis than our Bounders P30. I haven't been on the road with the towed yet so I'm not sure how it will feel. I do use my GPS for setting the CC and not the speedo. The Winnie seems accurate the Bounder is 3 to 4 mph slow.

55 to 60 is my sweet spot and hopefully it will be for the Winnie too.

I generally cruise at 65-67. It seems a lot of truckers cruise at 65 which makes for a nice flow. I also seems my Cat holds better over the hills without downshifting at that speed.:)

I shoot for 65 on interstates plus or minus a couple mph. The speed limit or 65 on 2 lane roads depending on conditions. (Many Texas 2 lanes have 70+ speed limits posted). I try to not run over 65 and use the cruise control as much as I can.

We tow the Honda CRV which limits us to stay under 65. Wife lets me know if I get too close to 65. Her CRV.

Depending on road conditions, traffic etc.
We keep up, with the traffic, on Interstates and four lanes etc.
On rural roads or light traffic we don't go much over fifty, unless the speed limit is lower and we go slower. In other words prudent speeds.

My Allison trans hits sixth speed at 55 mph so I try to keep it between 55 and 60. I plan to flat tow a GMC Terrain and it says the max. speed is 65.
I find when driving my motorhome, I have a different frame of mind than when in a car and just enjoy the ride at whatever speed.
