As we look into moving to a class A, wondering where to get maintence and repairs to the drive train. Would like to hear about both gas and diesel.
For my remote home base, the nearest RV dealer selling motor homes that I am interested in is General RV in Birch Run Mi.
If I had a Ford Chasssis I suppose I could go to a Ford Dealer. Diesel not sure where I would go.

I've had mixed results. My former Gas A, took it to a Ford dealership for a rear end issue, they did horrendous repairs, and when we got back home the local Ford dealer straightened out the problem and I got credit for the Ohio Ford Dealers shoddy work.

Took the rig to a local shop in Ohio that worked on big rigs for wheel bearing work, and once again, it wasn't done right.

I still will stick with a Ford Dealer (preferably a Truck Dealer as mentioned above) and will not allow a RV company to service my engine or chassis.

$110 an hour is twice what I pay and like I said, he charges by the time they actually work on it not the thieving flat rate system. He isn't looking for more customers, says he has to many company owned trucks to service now!!!!!!

Thunder touched on my solution. I have suffered for years with folks not wanting to touch a DP. Find out where your local school buses are serviced and that would be your new chassis/general service center. 🙂 For engine mine goes to Crossroads Cummins or Schide Diesel, for Trans Allison's world headquarters is nearby.
Sorry, but CW has screwed up simple stuff way too many times for me to count on it anymore. In 10 yrs I have YET to have CW do a single job without botching it. Yeah, make that profit..there's another sucker born every min.

I too use a local heavy equipment/diesel/truck repair shop. When you drive by his shop you see local diesel school busses, RV, over the road, heavy equipment, cars, light truck and anything that burns gas or diesel. He knows his stuff and now after four years knows my bus. At $110 per hour he is a bargain.

I would never, ever take my MH to an RV service facility unless it was because of a breakdown.

I take my RV to a local shop for repairs! Works out very well for me because the old guy that owns the shop retired and turned the shop over to his son. The old guy has the the same RV as mine so the son has very good knowledge when working on my coach.

Depends on the engine. We have Cummins and take it to Cummins Coach Care for engine and transmission work and generator (Onan) service. We have used several of their locations and feel that they provide excellent service at reasonable prices. We also use a heavy duty truck spring and alignment shop called Tampa Spring. They work on buses, ambulances, garbage trucks and other large commercial vehicles. They do air bags, shocks, alignments, bushings, etc. There are many Freightliner repair facilities in the US as well. We use Speedco for oil changes and lube.

We have used Cummins Bridgeway in New Hudson a few times for general routine maintenance to the MH and have been very happy. They are a professional group of people who have communicated well throughout the appt. They have always gotten me in on my appt time and finished when they said they would be done. I would just tell u they are busy and it may take a week or so to get an appt.

No way I would allow a RV tech guy to work on my engine, transmission, etc ... I take my rig to truck outfit as local ford dealer doesn't want to touch RV's.

We bought our Tiffin from General RV.

For Chassis maintenance we have had great service from Cummins-Bridgeway near Grand Rapids, MI. This is also a Cummins Coach Care facility closer to you near Saginaw. They work on both gas & DP MHs.

I just found out yesterday that Scheirls Tires will work on class A gas brake systems. I don't know how big of a chain they are in the midwest but if they do it other tire dealers might?
Thanks, Kay

I try to find a good independent truck repair shop. Locally it is what I use.
