Does anyone have experience with EMF interference on DISH TV and/or cellphone reception from high tension electrical wires ?

If it is set up like ours, the Dish DVR connects to the router via the house power line so that it has an internet connection for ordering PPV movies and receiving viewing schedule updates. It uses this instead of a telephone. There is still an outdoor dish to receive the TV programming.

I thought he meant the dish has to aim through the power lines. I'm not sure that would work.

Yup if you are talking "transmission" lines. All emit EMF's will affect computers and TV's. Stray voltage is the worst part of them.

They are supposed to ground them every 1/4 mile but do not. If they are near your home find out if they are grounded and if not make them do it.

Funny how a transmission tower can be anchored to the ground but not 'grounded'. Same with distributions poles. Sorry Rock, but ALL power poles and towers are grounded (unless a thief with a hatchet has cut the ground wire). Stray voltage/currents and EMF radiation can result from many factors other than grounding.

The other forum that I follow had this video about tower inspections a few weeks ago.
that is something completely different when taking the helicopter and your body to the same potential as the power lines.

Why do you ask? Curiosity or problems?

I've seen that an unconnected fluorescent tube will light up when hand-held under the very high voltage wires.

Oh.. don't get me started. x2

Fear stems from lack of knowledge.

report the interference... may be a future problem for electric company.. Connection Issues.

and many laws are made because of fear or lack of knowledge, or BOTH.

Been there done that fighting the power lines coming on my property. Know WAY more about how dangerous they are than I really care to. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Interesting they claim they are safe yet they are NOT allowed to put them near a school or dairy farms. Proof of cluster cancers in school kids and stray voltage killing cows keeps them from erecting them near either yet they say they are perfectly safe by your home. Go figure. :R

You are more exposed to EMFs due to close proximity to all the 120V wiring in your house/RV

Funny how power plant/substaion operators don't have any higher cancer rates than the general public at large
I was around 13KV, 66KV, 220KV and 500KV every working day of my power plant career

All things are possible in the world of RF (radio frequency). I have chased many sources of interference in forty years in the two way radio field. DVD players causing problems with a police department, crank up antennas on rv's causing interference, rusty bolts on towers creating junk.

So yes it is possible.

120V (in your house) to the 1 million voltage transmission lines ALL produce EMFs.

If you are parked under transmission lines or the transmission lines are between you and signal then YES interference will happen.

One CG we were at was close to train tracks........every time diesel locomotives would come by the EMFs from their on-board generators would pixelate the signal until they pasted.

What to check for interference.
Take a walk with an AM Radio tuned to an unused station.
The more the interference the more static
