Samsung, so you think you are safe?

First of all how come none of this important info never hits the TV news? They tell us all about Kardashians aarss but never report problems in the tech realm.

""The flaws in Samsung Smart TVs, which have now been patched, enabled hackers to remotely turn on the TVs' built-in cameras without leaving any trace of it on the screen.

While you're watching TV, a hacker anywhere around the world could have been watching you. Hackers also could have easily rerouted an unsuspecting user to a malicious website to steal bank account information.

Samsung also recommends that customers use encrypted wireless access points.

The iSEC crew said they remain skeptical that the technology is perfectly secure, even after Samsung patched the bugs.

And when all else fails, users can always put tape over their cameras.""

:S

Article goes into the real depth of this problem and others, good read.

Stories and information like the ones you showed can definitely effect an advertisers bottom like if too much information were to be released regarding their inner workings. "Too much information may be dangerous."

Better they stick to "Jersey Shore".

I used to work in the Defense Industry and when Computers and CRT displays came along. some bright spark in a multi billion dollar government test facility determined that Russian Spys could use sophisticated listening and scanning devices to read the text displayed on the screen of the CRT from outside of the building - for a while it caused major disruption as they discussed using aluminum foil etc to block the signals. Eventually common sense prevailed!

Everyone from the janitor on up was required to have *Secret* Clearance. If your clearance was still in process (new hires), you were required to have an escort everywhere. Same for visitors.

At all the entries you placed your ID/badge on a viewer - and security could also see you on a monitor for comparison.

One guy thought he would put it to the test, attached a pic of Alfred E. Newman (Mad Magazine) over his ID pic.
No problem, "buzzed" right in.
Of course, he was forever known as a dead-ringer for Alfred, his twin, etc., etc.

Another funny thing was - a visitor couldn't get close to the printers as they might see something they shouldn't.......as it
zoomed thru at XXX lines per minute, LOL!
Carbons from multi copy paper had to be saved for proper destruction.

BTW - No special dress requirements (no suits, etc.) - if you liked Hawaiian shirts and Bermuda shorts, no problem. Mgmt did the same.
I was a newbie. One day in the computer room, a fellow worker pointed out a guy with a small group, and said,
"That's Jules Schwartz" - - me: "Yeah, and his brother is Herbie Schwartz!"

"No, no! - he's the guy that 'invented' the computer programming language - *JOVIAL*."

Jules Own Version of the International Algorithmic Language -
Still in use in military and scientific applications.

Jules had a cool Hawaiian shirt, LOL!

All you people who think aluminum foil will keep them from getting into your brain are completely off base. You must have a molded lead helmet to protect yourself properly.

Just read that in an article posted in the Roswell Journal.

I don't see what the big deal is...isn't everyone with a webcam-equipped computer already being watched?

I just hope whoever's watching Francesca TV is prepared to be bored to death.
Most of the stuff that is on TV is pretty bad, but not nearly as bad as watching me stare the TV. If they get really lucky they may get to see me yawn right before I turn it off and head to bed. If watching someone watch TV was my job, I believe I would actively be seeking to change careers.

Our Samsung Smart TV was never hooked up to the internet. Uses way too much data and our connection is super sloooow. We prefer to rent DirecTV movies.

Nope. With all the paranoids around here, perhaps I should!

Instead, I have knowledge.. Knowledge is power.

I have the Knowlesedge- and a tin hat, too. No worries here...:B
