AARP/Hartford doubles our Insurance rates

We have no tickets no accidents. Hartford's new offer is twice what it was last year.

I called, I spoke to their rep, he just says and does, what he is told, I get that. He blamed it on the wild fires in WA, 2 years ago.

Just very disappointed with Hartford.

I only stay with the company I currently have if, and only if, they do not raise my premium. If it goes up, I shop for a new company. Simple.

Have had Hartford for about 13 years, and up until yesterday would have said the same thing about them. Who knows?

A second vote for Mutual Of Enumclaw. I have home, motorhome, car insurances and an umbrella liability policy with them. Rates were 20% less than my former insurance with Allied. I have only had one claim, rock hit cracked my motorhome windshield. The claim was handled promptly.

Question......anyone know of any retired insurance agents? No? There is a reason for that.....commissions pay too well and its not strenuous work. They are not "your" agent anyway, they work for their own pocket and that means getting you to buy as much as they can get you to. He is a salesman, just like the guy in the used car lot. Insurance companies are not our friend. No such thing as loyalty. Best advice I ever heard about insurance is to change companies every 2 yrs. I am over due so I will be changing this coming renewal.

Old Biscuit has it scoped out correctly. Forget about loyalty, shop and change as often as it benefits you. It makes no difference to spend a lifetime with one company. When it comes to claim time, you get the rigid digit, or even if no claim is involved, they will raise your rates to cover their losses. Insurance is a ponzi game.

I just picked a company that will not insure any one living on either of the two coast. This cuts their loss experience. I saved $500.00 will it stay that way? I do not know right now.

We also change this year after Hartford raising the rates on us for 3 years. After trhree years with a company and no claims you should see a discount, but none to be found. We have State Farm now.

I cancelled all my Hartford policies. It would take time for me to offer you my story, and I don't want to give them more of my time. Besides, I'm sure I would sound like a big whiner.

couldn't you have gotten a lesser policy from LM?
this reminds me of the person here who whined years back for buying a very expensive plane ticket. She asked the agent for the first flight out, so she got what she asked for but it was much more than later flights.

(It was almost $5,000!) The Liberty agent gave me the most expensive policy they offer...not happy. Good sam Insurance saved the day. I don't want replacement coverage, too expensive. Also, the online system at Good Sam is awesome! I completed the entire process online with no problem.

Wow, I just switched to AARP from Progressive. Progressive went up every year and AARP gave me a great rate. I wonder what it will be next year.

Luck of the draw really. In our case, Progressive is the only company that hasn't jacked with our rates, for almost 15 years now......knock on wood.
Have been pretty much ticket free now through my 30s and early 40s.....the same last 15 years. But used to be a target for predatory insurance practices. Multiple times.

Wish I could say The same for the house insurance.
One house in CO, when we switched it from home owners to landlord policy about 5 years ago, it actually got way cheaper, which typically isn't the case.
House in WA was about 2x as much for a homeowner policy, similar structure value.
Landlord policy on the WA house raised it a bit. Change back to homeowner policy though 2 years ago and it almost doubled!
House in WI has now been magically going up at least $100 a year for last few years.
Thought I was getting jacked, but they were still the best deal last time I shopped rates.

Not a lot of rhyme or reason it seems. Hopefully Progressive don't read this and realize they've forgotten to eff with my car insurance!

We've had Mutual Of Enumclaw for 15+ years. We had Farmers prior for what seemed like forever, Got tired of them goofing with our coverage. We switched to an independent agent in town and they set us up with Enumclaw. Rates have been steady with only the normal increases that one would expect. We have the house 2 vehicles and the 5th wheel covered with them.

YEP.........

They ALL do it.

Low introductory rates then renewal time rates go up....some creep slowly up, some are more aggressive with rate increases

BUT they all do it

I go with a Ins. company (introductory rates) and then when they are more then I feel is fair (benefit/cost) I go else where.

I used to question their actions, inquire WHY, show me the reasoning.......
Not any more.
Companies do NOT have loyalty so neither do I
It is all about the money......for them and for ME

I used to be with Allstate, then National Interstate, then Farmers and now AARP/Hartford

Next year ????

My mama told me, "You better shop around, (shop, shop)
Oh yeah, you better shop around." (shop, shop around)
