Anyone else in CO or WY re-winterize this weekend?

On Sat the kids spent all day outside playing in the creek behind our house and I was out at the range shooting all day in the 75 degree weather and then Sunday I load up the kids in their winter gear and drive back out to the range in a blizzard to blow the water lines out and dump some anti freeze down the drains.

I hope this is going to be enough. I usually try to do a better job at home but didn't have time this weekend.

Didn't re-winterize but got chased home by the snow and kept my fingers crossed. Our fifth wheel sets in a pretty protected area close to our house. It showed only down to 33ยฐ last night.

Up here the motorhome will continue to be winterized for a another week or more. They say to never put seeds/plants in your garden until after Memorial Day up here. 60's this weekend, 37ยฐF yesterday, 40ยฐF right now. Plus we got an inch or so of rain. There still is some ice on Lake Superior.

All I have done the last few years is open and close the low point drains, blow it out and anti freeze the drains. No problems and it takes less time to do it than talk about it

We are long time fulltimers currently outside of Gunnison on our way to 9,600' up above Idaho Springs for a summer gig. As I type, it's 25F and I'm looking at 3" of fresh snow added to the (mostly melted) 3" yesterday. Floridians at heart, even 14 years later, we don't take to cold well. Mostly, winterizing for us is just to move somewhere warmer. ๐Ÿ™‚ In this case we filled the FW tank, stowed the hose and have hunkered down for a day or 2 of satellite TV, radio, good company and e-books. Did I mention that we hate this lifestyle?

After 4 months in south Texas, avoiding winter, we returned home to Colorado to low temps in the mid 20s. Yep, antifreeze back in the lines.

Luckily we didn't get the trailer ready to go a few weeks ago when it was so nice. Last weekend would have been a nice quicky down to Cherry creek, this week end, not so much. lol

I did shut down and drain the sprinkle system here at the house.

Trailer is parked next to the house and I did not re-winterize but I do have the furnace set to 35 degrees for tonight as the forecast is for mid 20's. And I have the ceiling fan running on low to move the air around. That seems to help a lot.

I bugged out of Laramie on Saturday evening, and glad I did. They had about 6" of snow at the CG by 8:00AM and roads were closed. I didn't want to deal with traveling 287/I-25 in the storm with the PUP attached, much less burning that much propane to keep it warm (in addition to running the electric heater non-stop).

I keep the PUP in the garage so I didn't bother to winterize. But as to the original question, blowing out the lines and adding antifreeze to the drains should be good for the short-term, especially since it's not much below freezing. When I've been camping with sub-freezing overnight temps, I disconnect from city water/turn off water pump and open the low-point drains. Open the faucet to allow air back into the system. This has worked well for me many times over the years.

On the bright side, It's supposed to warm up tomorrow!
