Feeling I made a pricey mistake

I thought I would share my experiences from today. We purchased a new TT and took ownership on 5/20/13. Upon arriving home (160 mile one way trip) the galley mini blind had fallen down. Maiden voyage was two weeks ago and post 5 nights and 850 miles several issues were identified including the rear window day/night shade and valance/cornice had fallen down, rear third break LED light not working properly. We dropped the TT off at the dealer with the list of warranty issues (mostly minor). I contacted the dealer for an update and did not receive and update. Today I contacted the manufacturer, who contacted the dealer on our behalf.
Interestingly we received several emails from the dealer, one such email trail to the manufacturer revealed we were labeled by the service manager at the dealer as "special needs folks."
I feel I made a poor choice in selecting the dealer. Unfortunately, there were only two dealers in our state selling the manufacturer we had selected.
I could have purchased a lessor unit 30 miles away. There is a lot to be said about a dealer's reputation.
Just sharing.

Thank you for your comments, support and arguments. Here is the latest update for those of you following along...
We did not purchase our TT from a local dealer, the dealer is 160 miles away (one way). The experience regarding warranty issues has been interesting to say the least. I will not be commenting further as we work through the warranty issues.
Thank you again for your comments, support and arguments.

I still think it is in the top 10 thread of the year.

Are you for real???

Hope you don't take this as "argumentative", but:
Please take a moment to read the following carefully highlighted quote of the O.P.'s opening post.
I edited it down to high points so you wouldn't miss them...again:

The OP clearly bought from a local dealer. To have expectations for that dealer to treat him properly after the sale, especially for warranty work, is perfectly reasonable. This thread had nothing to do with buying many miles from home then going somewhere else for service. How you took that to be a matter of inconvenience is beyond me, except for the fact that you wish to be argumentative....... As I stated.

MY zest to be argumentative??? :B
That's a hoot, Mr. Hold-their-feet-to-the-fire-no-matter-how- inconvenient...

Since I asked the question, I guess I'd have to say that it's you that missed the point of it, Paul. I'd buy according to best deal, and get warranty service where most convenient, that's all. It may well be that the O.P. doesn't even know that's an option. I didn't!

Sure it can, but why should a customer have to resort to that? When I buy a car, I fully expect any warranty work will be handled by the dealer I bought it from. Why should I expect differently with my RV dealer?

Well, it wouldn't be worthwhile to ME to drive two hundred and fifty miles round trip (twice: drop off/pickup) just to deal with the original seller...but whatever floats yer boat!

O.K., I've never owned a new RV so know little about RV warranties- but can't warranty work be done by ANY dealer/RV place that the rigmaker approves of???

I would start building a relationship with another dealer to use when your warrenty is over. This person knows his use of those words bothers people but uses them any way. That's no way to run a business that is based on customer relations.

I would like to provide an update. I emailed the dealer manager re the statement of "special needs folks" and received an email from the author who stated he uses the term in addressing a customer who is in need of a quick turn around. He stated his wife objects to the use of the term, however she has gotten used to it.
So, moving forward the jury is still out as to whether or not I made a pricey mistake. The trailer returns tomorrow.
Thank you for your responses.
Happy Trails. West Beachhouse

Typical responses here on the forum...lol

Posting: "the sky was blue today".
Responses: "how do you know it was blue? We weren't there, so we don't know if it was blue or not. It could of been gray. Maybe you didn't look at it with both eyes open. Perhaps you misinterpreted the color. It couldn't of been blue, I just looked online and it said it was cloudy at your location.

Blue. Definitely blue.

And anyone that says otherwise is just itchin' for a fight!:B
