Fresh Water Hose

I am wanting advice for a fresh ware hose that is easy to coil up to store. The one I have now I just bought at Wally Mart and not only is it impossible to coil up neatly, the water coming out has a bad odor and of course taste bad. Yes, it is for potable water. I have also tried a white hose (for potable water) similar to the green Pocket Hose that has been out for a couple years and not to be used for potable water. Although it was easy to store, the water taste bad. Any ideas out there?

Try coiling one under 60 degrees.

Ya can lead a horse to a water bucket filled by a Camco TastePURE Premium water hose made in the USA - but ya can't make a *wise* horse drink from it!

It's neigh (nay!) for me -
but whatever rings *your* chimes or fills *your* bucket!..:C

I've coiled mine numerous times even below 32 deg.F with no great difficulty. Are they stiffer when it's colder? Yep. But they still coil without kinking.

Well I have had two of the Camco white hoses for 6+ years and don't ever remember them being very difficult to coil even in 30 degree weather, never had a taste issue either. Not junk in my opinion.

While not cheap, these are absolutely the best hoses available and definitely worth the money - oh so easy to coil!

Bingo! (finally!!)

What he said.....
"are absolutely the best hoses available and definitely worth the money - and oh so easy to coil!!"

X-297..;)

Any length you want, choice of couplings.

Quick delivery to your door.

Special configurations OK - like same couplings at each end.

Worth the "not cheap" - you *DO* get what you pay for!.:C

You will love the quality. All hoses should have such good connectors! We purchased three 15 foot sections and usually only use one but it makes it easy to reach 45' if necessary. I also have a 50' length of the NeverKink just in case we are really a long ways from the water. But the one 15 foot section is good for 90% of our stops and two sections will handle most of the rest.

The water tasted normal. I am now at a complete loss. Any ideas would be of great help.

Go to one of your neighbors and ask to taste the water coming out of their hose. If their water tastes fine and it tastes fine out of the spigot then buy a new hose and or filter like the neighbor has. If the neighbors water also tastes bad then I suspect it is some aspect of water in hoses that you do not like and you may need to use bottled water for drinking.

How about in cold weather?

We don't normally camp in freezing weather but they coiled easily in 40 degrees.

My saga continues. I bought a new Never-Kink hose and it coils up nicely, although I am in AZ, so I don't know how it will preform in colder weather. I tested the water after it leaves the filter just before it enters the coach. Again, bad taste. So, I have illuminated the hose and the filter as the source of the problem. I then turned off the campground water and started my fresh water pump. The water tasted normal. I am now at a complete loss. Any ideas would be of great help.

If the OP is having problems with smell and taste using different potable water hoses, he should start by sanitizing the tank and the rest of the water system."

I think cutting the hose is a good idea and much cheaper than two 15's and sanitizing is a great idea.

As for me I have a 25 foot flat white hose and it coils up about 1.125 inches thick and 14" in diameter. These hoses were popular back when our Bounder was born. Ours was in the bay when the Bounder left the dealer. I have a second hose, a Camco but it hasn't been used yet. I'll use it for the drain when I sanitize this spring, that should take all the taste out(if there is any).

I carry one 10' white hose that I don't recall where I bought, and two 25' white hoses, one Camco from Walmart, and the other an unknown brand from Big Lots. None of them add any taste to the water, and all are fairly easy to coil and connect the ends together for storage without kinking. I've rarely needed all three, but it has happened. As said, the 10' is enough a lot of the time. All three were sanitized with a bleach solution before first using them.
