Got a deal on oil change

I let my local dealer do all my oil changes. Occasionally they send coupons. Got an e-mail offering regular oil change for $19.95, normally $39.95. Took DW’s Expedition in this morning planning to run thru the auto car wash ($11) afterward. Dealer changed the oil/filter AND washed it. So I spent $20 instead of $50. :B

Also got a coupon for diesel oil change for $89.95 good for two more months. Just about right for my F350. :C

After 4 oil changes I get the next one free. Need to check when that free one is coming up as I always save that for the truck. A little annoying that they always try to sell extra services. But really really easy to say no.

WOW !! - DYNO-MITE...:C..:C

Start of a Soap Opera / Reality Series - right here on the forums!!

Be sure to start a NEW THREAD after you get the next (free) one!

Pliz don't forget to describe the extra services they try to sell..:( - whether you buy or pass - in detail, of course.

For the next "round" of coupons, include the ones you plan to use at the local grocery store for soda pop and cereal...:W

BTW - follow the lead of the poster who tips $20 for good service (those coupons will "offset" the cost of the gratuity).

Congrats on deals for your "wheels" !!

Readers should be green with envy.

Tried to get Ford Dealer to wash car when they serviced it no go. Our old Saturn Dealer did sorta.
My Mercedes Dealer washes it every service and vacuumes it windows everything.
I ti them 20.00 though. And take it in to be hand washed whenever it is dirty. Tip them 20.00. I have one guy that does my car and knows not to dip a dirty mitt into clean suds. And he dries it spotless.

The "you'll blow up your car because they'll screw up your oil change argument is kind of old."
Yes it could and can happen, how many x per 1,000 oil changes I wonder?
I do ALL my own work typically on my own cars because I'm a cheap @ss AND because it literally would take me longer to take it somewhere on a Sat morning and back home than to change oil in the garage.
BUT, in 25 years of taking my company trucks in average every 2 months, plus 100s of other trucks I'e been responsible for, I have had one bad experience that could have caused major failure. Guy left the fill plug out of the rear diff and it sprayed oil all over.

I can think of 2 botched oil changes that I've personally done in the same last 25 years, and both of them were when I was servicing multiple vehicles/equipment at the same time.....so maybe I should take mine in??? LOL

Been going there using that Dealer for oil changes since 2014,
NEVER had any 'lousy work' nor have they tried to up sell.

Originally price was $49.99-----raised it at end of last year to $59.99

Small town....people know each other

ANY place can have problems with quality work...don't go there
DIY.....course you could be a lousy tech also

Good luck. I too had one of those oil change deals done @ 93/94 on an almost new 93 Chevy K1500, z71 reg cab stepside, teal green and silver. What a sharp truck it was.

Mr Goodwrench left the oil filter loose and it fell off going down the interstate at 70 mph on the way to work one morning at 4 AM, in January when it was about -10 degrees. I remember walking 3 or 4 miles down that highway like it was yesterday. What a deal it was. I've not had a quicky lube done at a dealer or oil change juke joint since. They usually don't have their top tier techs doing those oil changes at dealers, but it might be the nose picking lot kid whose previous experience was filling cups or being the VP of fries at McDonalds.

Speaking of Ford dealers. I take my F 250 in there for the oil change. it costs 27 and change.

And for the last 7 years they have not tried to upsell me for anything. :h

Now Toyota is a different deal. They usually try to hose me. must be the grey hair. :B

I always liked it when they walk into the waiting area with my white clean air filter that has 12000 miles and say it really should be replaced. Then the next time I'm under the hood I realize that they bent the clips and the cover is loose. It's a roll of the dice. If you have a good place then all is well

Sounds like a good deal for your oil change. Of course they do those deals to get you in and "upsell" more stuff to do you, but you know that and are ready for them.

My local independent repair garage is really good, and their "normal" oil and filter change is barely more than a nearby quicky lube.

Walmart and other discount places are not always the cheapest. People forget to shop around, they just assume some places are cheaper. The other stores / garages are competing for your business, so usually will price work competitively.

Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

Heckuva deal.
Car dealers are good for 2 things now. Cheap, I mean economical, oil changes (for the Amzoil tribe) and popcorn!
