I did the same dumb thing for the 4th or 5th time

This time was the worst.

My front A/C is not working and I have a new part waiting for me in PA to be installed on my trip back home to SC.

The front and rear A/Cs both control an A/C, heat pump and furnace.

I still able to use the front furnace to take the chill out at night. In the morning I turn off the front furnace which is controlled by A/C controller. I forgot to turn off the front furnace a few times before turning on the rear A/C and wound up having the rear unit pumping cold air and the cold air blowing on the front unit cause the furnace to come on.

Today I was not feeling well but I had to go out and fill up an empty propane tank, and forgot to turn on the A/C before I left so the RV was hot when I returned. When I got back and went straight to bed because I was feeling worst when I got back than when I left.

I was laying down in be for a 1/2 hour maybe more and I and getting real hot so I get out of bed to get a soda and when I step on the vent the metal was hot from blowing hot air. This is not the first time I made the same stupid mistake but I hope it is the last one. The worst that happen was I burned off a lot of propane and sweated a lot so at lest it was a mistake that cost a lot of money to fix something I broke. I the front A/C was not broken it probably would not have happened but I am going to post a note to remind me to turn off the heat before turning on the A/C.

If you camp long enough you will probably make every stupid mistake there is to make I just don't like repeating the same mistake

Is it possible to simply rewire the A/C units to use the same thermostat as the furnace so that it can only be one or the other?

Most modern roof-top RV A/Cs are usually designed to work with a standard heating/cooling thermostat.

The units do not have a wall thermostat which is something I like. I can turn the unit on & off change modes and set temps while sitting in bed using a wireless remote( range about 10 to 15 feet)

The problem is that I have a front and rear A/C, both operate in A/C, fan, heat pump, furnace, and dry mode. Part of the problem is the front is not working in A/C / heat pump mode, but it does work in furnace mode. At night if I need heat I turn on the front furnace, but in the morning I have to use the rear unit because the front A/C does not work. If I forget to turn off the front furnace before I turn on the rear A/C the two units will be fighting with each other one trying to cool and the other trying to heat.

I just got this RV a few weeks ago and am waiting to get it fixed under warrantee. I ordered the parts at Camping World in Hanover PA but since it would take over a week for the part to come I drove to NY and am getting it fixed on the way home.

I am ready to drive home but the service department is booked up till Monday 7/1/13 so I am staying here till Sunday. Hopefully I will be home in time to be the 4th of July traffic and party with my neighbor at home.

Maybe a post-it note stuck to the front of the A/C controller when you turn on the heat?

For years I used a wooden clothes pin on the handle of the television antenna crank, moved to the gear shift lever.

For years, I have had trouble remembering to close the roof air vents before driving, but 2 weeks ago, DW said you have some more of those clothes pins, use one. DUH!

Making the same mistakes just means that you haven't come up with a way to remember:)
People have problems remembering the steps, or the TV antenna...and a good way to help remember, is to put something on the steering wheel that will remind you to check before you leave.

You may want to come up with something like that.....maybe even just a sign on the galley table....especially this time of year, when you do have both the furnace and the A/C working at some point during the day.

Hope you are feeling better!!
