Laundry strategy

What is the best strategy for doing laundry at rv parks? Do you go early or wait until people have left for the day? I am an early riser and would like to get it done early but maybe other folks need to do it then so they can leave for the day.

I'd love to have a washer/dryer in the rig. Until then, I have to depend on park Laundromats. The only problem I see to an in-rig machine is that I have been in a few parks that prohibit using in-rig machines if you're not on metered electricity. Of course, I'm not sure how they'd know you were using it..... On the other hand, we pulled into a park in New England last summer and the lady at the desk barked out "NO USING YOUR WASHER OR DRYER AND BELIEVE ME, I'LL KNOW IF YOU'RE USING ONE!" Oh, well.

I used to be an early riser, too. I would go first thing when it was cooler. Because it was usually a long walk to the laundry room carrying 2 days of clothes for 3. Sometimes, I would even go get the key and unlock the door to be first in line. If I wasn't one of the first ones to secure a machine, there were too many lazy people that would tie up the machines and it would be too hot to make the long walk late in the afternoon.

I would never wash after dark. Too many things get stolen when the lights are out.

Now I can sleep in and start a load whenever I want with our onboard W/D.

We designate a 'housekeeping day' where we putz around the RV. We use that to do minor maintenance, cleaning, tanks, and of course laundry. Otherwise, we do laundry when we need. We have a washer on board. Most times we will wash a few loads, then run them all over to the dryer. Saves time. And the water in RV is double filtered, so no worry about rusts and other particulate matter.

We have the Splendide Combo. Question for other Combo owners: The dryer cycle. Is it super-duper really long and barely works? Or is it just me? I could dry the clothes faster with a cigarette lighter. Any insights?

Go when you'd least like to, and that's when it will not be busy. BTW, I never sit and wait. I go do something else. Like someone's gonna steal my nasty underwear!

Almost always the best time is shortly after 3 in the afternoon, that’s when it’s the heat of the day and almost everyone has returned to the camper to begin preparing for dinner… after dinner time and until close the Laundromat activity picks up again until closing…

If the CG keeps the laundry room open 24 hours, I do my laundry around 10:00 at night. No fuss, no muss, no kids running around and it's nice and quiet in there. I watch the news while it's washing, put it in the dryer and watch Letterman and when that show is over my laundry is done. :C

My DW just walks to the back of MH, in bedroom, and throws the clothes in the washer. More convenient. Wouldn't have an RV without W/D.

I shoot for just after 10AM (or whatever checkout time is). Fewer folks in the park than at any other time. Part of the overall strategy is taking jeans and colored pocket tees, and white underwear and socks. No ironing. One load of each, and if my timing is right, two loads of each in the dryers, because they take longer. Probably not that easy for the ladies. 🙂

Our experience has been that Sunday evenings are the best time to do laundry at a campground. The laundry areas are generally empty and we can use several machines both to wash & dry without feeling that we are hogging all the machines. :C

best time is whenever you can get a machine and dryer.

I do it morning, noon or night also. My laundry is on MY FUN schedule. When I get a chance I do a load. Only usually one load per trip over 5 days. I bring enough clothes to make it thru and do laundry when I get home. easier.
