Rental cars

Hi all,

We don't tow a car when we travel, and usually do fine without one. Our next trip to Florida, however, might find us staying in one place for several weeks, and we'd like to rent a car. Daily rentals would be very expensive. Can anybody recommend an agency that does inexpensive weekly or monthly rentals?

Try Budget, Enterprise (they'll pick you up), or Rent-a-Wreck. Also, check with whatever campground you're staying at. Some of deals with local rental agencies.

Enterprise also has it's own membership for frequent users (like me). Each time you rent you get points and as they build up they discount your rental so much next time. They keep me in their national computer so they know how many points I have. No fee.:C

Havn't rented a car in years but I used to get the best deals from the Auto Dealers. They would rent a used car for decent price. Don't know if it's still possible but worth looking into.

Check out the independent rental car companies, some operate only out of the major airports. Have gotten unbeatable deals on new cars in season.

I just called Budget in St. Augustine, Fla. this afternoon and reserved a full size Chevy Impala for a week at a cost of $226.00

We don't toad either so I've used Enterprise for years with no problem. If they're not in the area I'm visiting there's always a competitor available.

Last time when I was in Florida with my family I took Ford Taurus at price of $694.95 for 29 days from http://www.tripntourpackages.com/. That was awesome tour in that automatic ford. There are so much to explore like Walt Disney, magic kingdom, Legoland Florida etc. So you will definitely enjoy in Florida.

Which area of Fl are you traveling? If you can, stay away from Orlando rates, probably Tampa also. Go to surrounding areas like Melbourne if you are close to Orlando. Just a thought....

If you are a Costco member, their car rental rates in the travel section are really good.

We use Enterprise. They almost always have the lowest weekly rates, and best of all they are everywhere. If you use Expedia or Priceline, be sure to check the company website as well - they are sometimes actually cheaper. Just did a quick check and you can get a weekly rental at one Orlando Enterprise location for $200/week for a compact.

I never found one in Florida. key word being Florida. I was used to all rental agencies offering these great daily rates if you rented during a certain time of week. These special rates were not existent where I was in Florida.

I'm from the Midwest and when I got to Florida and found out what they charge for rental cars....I bought a toad!

The closer you are to Orlando the more the rental fees where. I was staying in Leesburg and was shocked what they wanted to rent a car and no specials.

Perhaps the further away from the mouse house it might be cheaper. I'd make a few phone calls before you head out.

I use Expedia or Priceline- they will show who is lowest in the area you want to rent. I will book through the car rental agency - I usually have found Budget to be the lower priced and last time I booked (in Feb.) they did not ask for a credit card- JMHO

All offer AARP discounts so be sure to enter your info if you belong. We have always favored Enterprise because they will deliver to a campground and pick up there.
