Lake George RV Park They have a two acre dog park. They estimate 60% of their guest bring a dog. Off leash park with spray fountain for cooling off. Dog wash station. Dog treat vending machines. Synthetic turf. Large and small dog areas. Beats the heck out of most places that give you ten by ten spot out in the weeds to poop your pup. Maybe if other parks follow suit there wouldn't be so many dog complant posts.

One of the best things you can do for a dog is to socialize it! They are pack animals and love the interaction...the only problems I've ever experienced in a dog park came from dogs who were there for the first time and their owner's were terrified. The dogs pick up on that and become aggressive... Once the pack "puts them in their place" everybody got along just fine.

Even if your dog cant deal in a park I can still see how it would omit a lot of dog complaints I read on this forum. The park we are in has NO place to walk dogs. You have to go along the highway or cross the street to a gazillion acres of dessert. Now there are complaints because folks are seeing poop in the dessert. Its inhabited by tons of coyotes, raccoons, bighorn sheep, bobcats, mountain lions and what ever roams the dessert. At least with a 2 acre dog park you sure cant complain about a dog pooping in them.

Thank you for posting with a link. What a super cool feature for a RV Resort/Campground.

For years we never had a dog, then when our kids were in grade school we got our first working dog as a pup, and we trained and loved that dog. My requirement was to be able to travel with a dog and most people wouldn't know we had a dog. And she was a perfect traveling dog, never barked, and would stay quietly in our campsite, regardless of other less well trained or behaved dogs walking by.

Now we have our 2nd dog after cancer claimed our first way to early. This one is a rescue, same breed, but a handful for sure. All the love and training in the world can't undo whatever happened in this dogs first 7 years. Our dog probably would not do well in a dog park because of his aggression issues, but I think off leash dog areas are fun for most dogs and owners.

And my brother in-law who is veterinarian with his well established practice likes dog parks too, they tend to be good for business. All the best, Hans

9 out of 10 owners do not have a solid recall or for that fact any training on their dogs and just as many have never even let their dogs loose with other dogs. It's the owners that feel the need to do this not the dogs.

Dog parks are Dog fights just waiting to happen. Nope I am not about to turn my dog loose in an open area with owners and dogs I know nothing about. Not to mention you have no idea if these dogs are healthy and not carrying disease.

Exactly, now don't get me wrong. Our dogs love socializing and we regularly take them to family's house to play, all in all they are in contact with roughly 10-12 other dogs a year. The difference is it's the same 10-12 dogs every time, I know that these others are disease free and that they all get along.


I've also heard stories of poison filled dog toys left in dog parks by folks who don't like dogs. There is NO way I would ever take that kind of risk.

Some dogs love socializing with other dogs. I always get a laugh when my brother tells me about taking his dog to "Doggy Daycare". His dog loves it and is all worn out when she comes home. I guess it's like a play-date. 😉

I travel with my 115 pound Bernese Mtn Dog that I also show at times. We do not go to dog parks. He does not need to meet your dog. He stays on the end of his 6 foot leash and we have a great time. A dog park is a great place to have your dog pick up bugs, get sick, or in a fight. Any one of those will spoil a vacation. To those of you that love dog parks, enjoy. I don't hate them.
