I sold a Harley the other day I had insured with Progressive for the past 7 years. I also have my TT insured with Progressive. When I called to drop insurance on the bike, they said they had to drop my multi vehicle discount which resulted in a rate increase on the TT. The rate increse seems low at $12 a month but it almost a 45% increase over my current TT monthy premium payment. Progressive asked me if I wanted to switch my cars over but I've been very happy with USAA...no premium increases in a few years despite 2 hail claims on our cars. What would you do...go look for TT insurace somewhere else or suck it up and pay 45% more in premiums?

We had Allstate for 39 years but when I asked for a break we were told they had a chart to go by and couldn't help. I went to a broker and they found a cheaper company for us, Travelers. RV plus four other vehicles and home owners for much better than Allstate.
Find a Broker and let them compare other companies, just DO NOT tell the broker who you have now--------that keeps the playing field level.

USAA is going to direct you to Progressive to cover a non-motorized vehicle, but maybe the referral gets you a better rate?

How many cars do you own? Do you have an older one with just liability coverage? If so, swap it to Progressive and reclaim the multi-vehicle discount. I am in the insurance business and I always love reading these threads. One of the first pieces of data that shows on our main claims screen is Date of Policy Inception. We treat every customer with great respect and courtesy but we will exhaust all levels of courtesy to make a loyal customer happy. Been there and done it myself. Now, is it still financially smart to shop around? Absolutely. But you should typically put everything with one provider- auto, home, rv, life, etc. Multi line policies enjoy great discounts and your claims experiences will be all the nicer. Saving $200-$300 a year may entice some folks. I would rather know that if I have a claim the experience will be loaded in my favor.

We just own 2 vehicles. One is new and being financed and my TV is paid off but I wouldn't drop coverage to liability because if it's value.

Me too. Got a better price by combining Auto, Home, RV and business. Also I was glad to finally have one company instead of 2 or 3 to get all my coverage.

I shopped State Farm in March and they were to high even on a bundle and they would not let me pay for a year all at once. Told them we could not do business with them.

I received a few quotes back. If I stick with Progessive, I'll be paying $468/year with their included vacation liability and personal effects coverage. Miller came in at $339/year with similar coverage and a lower deductible ($250 vs my current $375). Blue Sky came back with basic comp/collision at $310/year and their expanded coverage (vacation liability, personal effects, roadside assistance) at $422/year. How many of you pay extra for the vacation coverage that use their RV less than say, 30 days a year?

I have a 2013 Hyundai, a 2013 Ford F150 CC 4X4 Ecoboost and a 2013 Forest River Flagstaff Classic 34 fit TT with Allstate and it's a package deal (right) at $180.00 per month here in Florida. All have $500 deductible except TT which has $250.00

I just changed to my third insurer yesterday since I bought our coach 3.5 years ago. They give you a great rate the first year then start 25-30% increases every year.

I guess that's why I'm loyal to USAA. After 3 years and 2 claims we haven't had a rate increase on our home or cars. I'm finding that a lot of major insurance companies don't underwrite TT policies, they just farm them out to companies like Progressive.

We shop around every couple years for best insurance rates. They're always changing and sometimes what we had 4 years ago is now the cheapest. I can't understand why folks are so 'loyal' to a specific insurer. Shop around.

After progressive doubled my insurance a number of years ago I called the Miller Insurance Agency. They advertise in all the RV Magazines so it is easy to find a telephone number. They have access to every insurance company that insures RV,s and will quote you prices and make recommendations. Have had insurance through them ever since.
