Walmart Tire & Lube Express - Carlisle Radial Trail HD

I see Walmart has my size of Carlisle Radial Trail HD on sale for a great price - - there is a Walmart Tire & Lube Express about 20 miles from my house, but reviews seem to be inconsistent at best....some 5 star, others 1 star. My local tire shops (Les Schwab and Point S) carry Towmax and Transporter, respectively) but I could save about $200 on the Walmart/Carlisle option....probably a better tire than either Towmax or Transporter. My trailer uses ST205/75R15 C tires. Anyone with points to consider using Walmart as a tire installer? It appears the biggest complaints about WM is the longer wait for installation.

Most Carlisle tire problems were prior to about 2014, they have gotten mucho better with the last 2 tire models. The Radial Trail HD has gotten very good reviews. Not to say that they can't have problems, ANY tire can!!

I have had Marathons on the last 3 trailers we've owned. US made, New Zealand made, and the latest on our Timber Ridge are (OMG) Chinese!!! None of these had any road problems, have had 2 tread punctures in the woods (usually turning around in a dispersed site), not a tire problem!! Present ones have just over 12K miles on them, and are aboot 50-60% worn and are just turning 5 yrs old according to date code. They have not had any problems in 4 yrs.

But after saying that, I just purchased 4 Carlisle HD's in E load rating due to the wife's urging before a 6 wk, 3000 mi summer trip. By age the GY's need to be replaced to forestall problems, and then I can worry about problems with new tires!!!! I felt that the Carlisle's were a better buy, with slightly deeper tread, and same or better reviews than the GY Endurance.

Bought at Discount Tire, they will almost always meet another price, either store or on-line. Got a great price, and am having local Costco mount and balance with HP stems for a much better price than any of the local tire shops including Discount. Just wish they carried the Carlisle or Endurance rather than the ones they source and sell.

This is it! Around 2004 I purchased a new hybrid trailer and within the first year I had a blowout on one of the Carlisle tires. It was not overloaded, it was not underinflated nor was it very hot outside. The company paid for a replacement set of tires. It wasn't long after that when the company changed their trailer tire offerings. Yes, things do change.

I now have an Airstream that I purchased used. It had the Goodyear tires on it that had proven problematic. Mine was 3 years old and I could actually see one tire had some delamination going on. After researching, I got a set of Maxxi ST tires. Ran them for 5 years without an issue. When it came to replacing them, Carlisle came out with their new trailer tire and was getting great reviews and they were cheaper than the Maxxis. Put them on and have 4 years without any trouble.

Oh, and Goodyear has upgraded their trailer tires too, so yes, things do change. I would certainly go with the Carlisles and I would upgrade them to Ds. I would not let Wallmart touch my trailer. Daughter had an oil change done and they did not tighten the plug. It blew out on the way home. I took my truck in for an oil change and they could not remove the filter. In both cases they did make things "right" but I would not choose a company that helps you after they screw things up.

GY ENDURANCE, stellar record with two full years on the market. Discount tire, forget LS or WM!!!

I also have the Carlisles and believe they are a great tir. If you don't trust you Walmart, buy them there and find out somewhere else to install them. At our Walmart it can be a long wait because there is no reserving times. It first come first served. We're fortunate because we're just a few minutes away so my wife comes with me in her car, we drop off the rig and leave it. Never had a problem with it. They are one of the best tires out there.

I once owned a Pinto.
I've had a few Fords since then. Things do change.

Do you have any actual data to support the statement? Or is it just opinion based on anecdotal evidence?

I had a Ford once that was a total piece of ****! Now that truck caused me to swear off Fords for life.

However I have never thought that qualified me to say, "Stay away from Ford at all costs". I have said that I disliked Fords and wouldn't buy one,but never have attempted to sway anothers decision with nothing more than a personal opinion backing me!

I have the 205/75/14C Carlisle Radial HD's on my trailer now and am extremely happy with them for about 10k now. I was also very happy with the Trailer Kings for 20k. I will definitely be purchasing them again after these are 4 years old. As someone stated above Maintenance of your tires is key.

The Carlisle HD’s are probably the best tire out there right now! I would go with them. Maybe you can find a better place to buy them from and/or install them!

I have and recommend the Carlisle Radial HD in slightly larger 215/75R14. I ordering my second set this spring.

Look at their LT tires in the 15 inch rim. They have a couple of very good LT tires that are 50 psi and have a load range around 2200lbs, but they need a rim that will accept a 235 tire. They also have some LT215/75/15 (100=1700lb) load tires that should fit fine on a 205 rim.

AS for the service it is really dependent on the store. One here in my town has a bad rep and one has a great rep. for customer service. Almost no complaints about the product or level of skill at either store.
