Where's everyone camping for the total eclipse of the Sun?

Did you know there will be a total eclipse of the sun next year on August 21?

You can see the path here: http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/path_through_the_US.htm

Are you planning on seeing it? If so, where are you camping? Better make your reservations soon for this one.

I'd like to find a good campground near my area. Anyone know of a good campground in the path south of Asheville?

Our back yard, especially now that the big trees have been cut down. Might walk over to the ponds behind the house.

We watched a total eclipse at a city park in Columbia, SC. What a nice setup. No camping, but a real large area. Several scopes set up for the public. We drove over from Knoxville, TN. Even make the nightly TV news. Our 15 minutes of fame. Well, not quite 15, maybe 1.
I bet it will be the same for this one.

We won't be camping. will watch from home. St Joseph MO is listed as one of the 5 best places to watch the eclipse. 100% coverage for almost 3 minutes. There are a couple of nice state parks in the area between us and Kansas City.

Twin Lakes CG in Clemson SC was nice 24 years ago; stayed there when visiting my future wife while she was still at Clemson U.

Next year we could visit her family in Greenville for her birthday and catch the eclipse while there.

My father and I were on Cape Cod for the June 1970 total eclipse. It was an amazing experience.

I've been thinking that Nebraska or Wyoming would be a good destination for next year's eclipse due to a better chance for clear skies than the states further east.

Another eclipse site.
That's a great point. I saw a total eclipse in France about 20 years ago and remember gray skies for most of the time. The skies cleared a few minutes before the eclipse but not as much as I would have hoped.

Clear skies are critical for enjoying the experience.
