Why do your kids keep yelling at our dogs?

After the recent slew of anti dog threads I found this hilarious. While camping his weekend a younger couple pulled into a site one over from us. Every time we went outside with our dogs the little kids opened the window or door and proceeded to yell at our dogs as loud as hey could.

These same kids ran around unattended through others campsites leaving their toys anywhere they pleased.

As usual our dogs just looked at them without a peep. And yes, we cleaned up after our pets. As a matter of fact I'd say the majority of the rv'ers in the campground had dogs. All on leaches and well behaved. We did not hear one dog bark or see one running around. We left the campsite cleaner then when we arrived I can guarantee you that.

Just a different perspective from a dog owner. I managed to enjoy myself.

I get more than my share of seeing children and dogs together. I have seen about all and yet it seems like a what are you thinking event happens every week. I sometimes wonder why the parents are not biting the children long before the dog takes over their job.

Can you imagine how the parents behave if their kids act like that? Give me a dog any day.:B

Have to agree on this one. Even at 52 I find that behaviors I used to tolerate without issue can sometimes wear on me. And then there's times when it's a "glad I'm not in their shoes again" attitude that prevails. I can guarantee you that EVERBODY on here has wondered what little devils took over their kid's bodies, and EVERBODY'S parents wondered the same thing-we just choose not to admit it!

Nobody said I was angry. It was a lighthearted attempt to compare to many of the anti dogs threads posted lately. As a matter of fact I thought it funny in comparison. Many similarities. I' m sure all parents aren't the same, as in dog owners.

My dogs weren't the problem and never have been. Just seeing things from different perspective. We enjoyed ourselves.

Why be angry?...just smile and think "glad they aren't related to me"

Should I be the one to start the "full circle" aspect? Yes, I've seen the bad behavior from kids. And their parents. And their parent's parents. That brings me to the "full circle" part. Have seen MANY older folks with the "I'm old, so I can do as I please" attitude, including a very well-respected member of this forum. THEIR parents are rolling over in their graves saying "this is NOT how I raised my child". In reality, NO generation is any worse or better than another. I've seen disrespect from every age group. Do I agree that a kick in the pants and hard labor would help in some cases? Most definitely. But what I REALLY see here is our own "parental arrogance" believing the next generation of parents are horrible and clueless. There's just one thing to remember. YOUR generation raised the generation you are complaining about.

To the OP-I probably would have asked the parents why the kids were yelling.

Love kids especially the little ones. Sometimes we want peace and quiet and sometimes we thoroughly enjoy their antics. As we get older lots, of kid type noise etc bothers us a little more some times. A shriek of a 2 year old will launch me out of the chair sometimes.
I use to love our kids when young rousing around with our dogs.

You know when you walk by a vehicle in a public place and someone has left their small dog cooped up in it and it goes into a frenzy barking and carrying on, even though you haven't even made a motion towards "their" vehicle? I like to bare my teeth and get all wild eyed and do my best grizzly bear paws on the window and roar right back at FooFoo. The backups and oops I better hide behavior is quite funny.

Wonder if that would work on hollerin' kids? 🙂

That certainly is sad and a bit weird. I too am interested to know exactly what the kids were yelling at dogs. I think if the parents didn't stop it then the next call would be to the campground to tell the manager you were being harassed by your neighbors. There's no excuse for that kind of behavior!

We recently had a young girl walk through our camp site between the fire pit and the awning (in other words, close to the RV). My wife and myself both commented that is the "worse" violation we have seen. Our response, make sure our daughter knew not to walk through someone else's camp site.

When I hear kids yelling, laughing and otherwise playing loudly I smile. I'm glad they are having such a good time. On this same trip I stopped and put a bike chain back on a young boys bike, explained to him that it was too loose and told him how to tighten it so it didn't come off again.

When I see others having a good time it makes me happy, even if they are loud. If I wanted quite, I would boondock.

X2, and trust me as a kid i was in the woodshed a time or two! :B Heaven forbid we spank a child today, it might hurt there feelings or damage them forever. :h
