Looking for suggestions on a good portable high chair to use for a 1 year old while camping. We camp in a fifth wheel looking for one to keep in the camper. I've seen a few different kind on the internet and just wondering what others are using. Thanks.

Camping world has an awesome high chair that is made for campers. I had never been to a CW store before and saw one there that I would have purchased if my lil ones were still high chair material. Lol

Cabela's have a folding high chair also. I am sure I saw one in Bass pro shop. They are made of the same material as one that goes in a bag. Most camping/ outdoor shops carry them now.

If you can find a Kelty Convertible Stroller - it is the right height for a table, and *IS* a folding stroller. Bonus - it's also a fully featured hiking pack. We have one, but they don't make them any more -- occasionally I see them on used gear swap/sale sites.

For our just turned 2yo we use a clip on chair at the picnic table, and she just kneels on the seat in the dinette if we eat indoors.

This is the camping chair version -- a friend has them for her now 18mth & 3yo, and has used them for the past year. http://theportablehighchair.com/ It's just like the fold up into a bag camping chairs, but with a tray & harness to keep a tot secure.

As long as the table is not too thick (more than a few inches), it will work on any table. The table does have to be heavy/sturdy enough that the weight of the kid in the high chair will not tip it over. Any concrete table will be fine.

We have been fine using it on dining tables at relative's houses, picnic tables, etc.

IndyCamp, does that work on a concrete table... some of the parks around here have concrete tables and I want to buy one for my GD to use camping.

Camping World sells a high chair that is like a folding bag type chair with the tray. Goes in the bag when you are not using it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I found a saftey first folding one I may go with. I love the stroller idea kills two birds with one stone and would save space in the camper. ๐Ÿ™‚

Grandma here...checking in with my "I wish they made" item number 8,243:

Wouldn't it be cool if someone designed a stroller that somehow "folded up" and became a high chair?

Two birds/one stone= more room to haul other stuff!

Yup, that's what the grandkids used a few years ago. Great in the RV, on the picnic table, and out to eat.

My kids had a booster seat that folded flat for storage, came with a detachable tray (to push up to table if you didn't need the tray) and worked on a variety of seats. I would recommend that because it would work in your dinette, outside on a *stable* folding chair and would be handy to take into restaurants if that options arose.

I want to say it was Step 2 or one of those. Came in multi primary colors (that's probably changed with the times). Very handy.
