Bringing this back up as RVing season is upon us.

I did receive my new locks without issue, sent the old ones back, and everything was easy enough to replace.

Now I just need to remember the lock works oh so slightly different...but is completely fine.

Trimark should recall the Model 60-650 door lock because it has the same problem. I spent $85 to replace the old lock with a newer one and I suspect many other RV owners have done the same based on all the negative comments in RV forum.

The Tri-Mark 60-650 does not have the same cylinder issue that the Fastec has. The 60-650 fails with a broken latch bolt that prevents the door from being opened. Mine lasted 18 years though, so it was hard to feel too bad about replacing it with the new 60-1650 design. Fortunately, my coach also has a driver's door so we weren't locked out, just inconvenienced until I could disassemble the lock from inside the coach and remove the failed piece. The door could still be locked with the deadbolt though, until the replacement arrived.

The recall notice sure read like it was to the dealers/resellers only - had some comment like 'do not share with consumers yet' or similar?

Guess I'll call them, as I have a lock cylinder in the recall batch.

Will be making another call to Fastec today to see if I can talk to someone who will replace the locks. I never received a callback from my first attempt.

Not sure why I never received a callback...assuming it was because I am a consumer and not a business?

I called the number on the recall notice and got right thru. They are sending me a replacement.

EDIT and UPDATE:

Called back today and got a live person...they are sending lock cylinders and keys out right away. They did not know why I was not called back but apologized.

BTW, the number listed on the recall is meant for both businesses and consumers.

So I went ahead and made the call to Fastec this morning. Had to leave voice mail for them to call me back even though it was business hours. Waiting for them to call me back.

Fastech sent me two lock cylinders, a removal key and instructions. Arrived in a manila envelope in four days with a return shipping paid envelope for the old parts and removal key.

The TH didn't have the recalled lock originally. Our keys were lost so I replaced all of the locks and got the recalled one. It has been a PIA to not be able to unlock door from inside because of how the TH is parked. Glad the recalled it.

Has anyone been successful, as a consumer, getting the replacement locks shipped to them? I have not tried yet, just curious if they are taking calls on this recall from consumers yet.

thx

Here's the offical recall notice that has the affected part #'s so you can check yours before you call.

Mexicowanderer, I thought you might enjoy this excerpt from the beginning of the document:

.... a voluntary recall and replacement program for certain Travel Trailer Lock Deadbolt Cylinders manufactured by Zhongshan Huafeng Lock Product Co., Ltd. and sold under the FIC brand name....
