I currently have a 2003 GMC 3500 Duramax with 175,000 miles. It's been a very good tow and haul vehicle but ran across a 2007 Chevy 3500 Duramax with 29,000, yes, twenty nine thousand miles in new condition, at a very good price. Does anyone know of any hidden problems/issues with this model truck?

Lets hear more details about this truck!
I'd buy it if I was you.
Not very often a low mileage diesel pickup comes along!
What are they asking?

If it's a lbz then you should have bought it yesterday....even if you don't want it. Good price equals profit on those if you sell it. Not many 06-07 low mile Dmax and Cummins trucks left and they fetch a premium.
If it's a lmm new body style, prolly still a deal and nicer truck overall. As said above, if gives you issues delete it.

LMM = LBZ + DPF for the most part

For about $1000-1200 you can run a delete tune and add a DPF delete pipe to the LMM and you basically have an LBZ. Plus with the LMM you get an updated body and interior compared to an LBZ. Lots of high miles LMM trucks on the road. Not sure why people speak so badly of them. Compared to the Ford 6.4 of the same era they are light years better.

More like $1,500 if you do the work yourself and $1,800 if you pay someone (including PCV reroute). The tuner now is $900 with the 5 stage switch. (Assuming LMM)

But either way, just bone stock the truck pulls awesome. And there are no known big issues that occur frequently. I have 125k on mine, 85k is my miles, and only had the four wheel drive actuator go out on me for $600. Other than that, only tires and oil changes.

My 09 lmm has been an amazing truck since new. The lmm forums I read show low failure rates compared to the other brands of same years. If that truck is an lmm in good shape I say grab it.

It was the first year for the DPF, and people don't like "different." There's kind of a stigma associated with that year truck because of the changeover even though the '08 and '09 models were virtually identical.

Putting 10-ply tires on half ton trucks since aught-four.

We bought our LBZ/Duramax 2 years ago, and she is a gem. Had 25k original miles. If we ever find a DP, we will be selling her with less than 65k miles :B

Important to know if it is 2007 Classic or 2007 new style.
Major difference.
I have a 2007 Classic with LBZ - Allison combo.
It has been a great truck and a huge powerhouse. I had a 2003 LB7 prior and it was not as good as this one.
I did however have to put an injector pump in it 2 months ago at 301,000K on the clock. And one injector.
Prior to that I have put only one glow plug in it in 300000K

I have had people try to buy mine off me several times. Simple 3 word answer. Not for sale.

I would buy the one you're looking at in a heartbeat, if it is an LBZ

IMHO, you are only a bit over half the life of the 2003, So why go in debt and buy a vehicle you don't know?

X2

LBZ Very desired, hope it isn't gone already!

LMM 1st of the full emission, not so good, as normal start up issues.
