1,659 on a short bed 5.0l 4x4 isn't too bad for an F150. My old FX2, 2WD 3.5l EcoBoost short bed w/ MaxTow was 1790.

My FX2 is ~2030# payload, you must have had some heavy options. Prolly a SCrew; mine is a SCab.

And am looking forward to seeing some 2015 F150 HD Payload trucks in the wild, as the published specs in the 2015 Source Book don't make a lot of sense to me.

The GVWR has dropped to 7850# in the HD Payload trucks with 18" HD 6-lug wheels, but they've kept the 4800# rear GAWR, same as the 2011-2014 HD Payload trucks with 7-lug wheels/axle.

But, while the 7-lug wheel's weight rating was 2400#, matching the 4800# rear GAWR, the 18" HD 6-lug wheel's weight rating is only 2101#. :h

Maybe a misprint ... the tech spec (2015 Source Book) I'm reading from is from Sept 2014 and clearly says that it's "current info" and "subject to change".

I got lucky and found my Max Tow ON THE LOT sitting in the back with the used vehicles.. It's a 2013 and it was January 2014, so there was about 8 or so other 2013's back there too. But, mine was the only Max Tow.. 🙂

It was exactly as I would have ordered it too. It's got #1920 on the payload sticker.. 😉

Robert, I was looking at a similar truck in 2011, Supercrew 4WD 5.5' bed Max tow package. It is a good truck, but my wife wanted 3 rows of seats.

🙂 Hi, a Max Tow Package was hard enough to find and the Max tow is enough for me. I think to get the Max Payload, (if they could find one) I would have to get the longer bed. I originally wanted the longer bed, but it was too long for my garage and driveway. So I'm glad that I didn't get the longer bed.

The Max payload has three things that I don't want. (1.) The longer bed. (2.) Seven lug wheels. (3.) Two piece drive shaft.

And maybe too harsh of a ride, especially while empty.

🙂 Hi, this is pretty decent, but we all thought the 2015 would be higher than a 2014. I saw a 2014 Platinum with 1065 lbs payload and the new Dodge Ecodiesel has a pitiful 860 lbs payload on some of their's.

We will have only two normal sized people, a little 20 lb dog, full tank of gas is included, spare tire is included, my hitch is about 75 lbs or less, I carry plenty of tools but nowhere near 150 lbs worth. With a full load and trailer tongue weight, I will have about 400 lbs left. My Lincoln handled all of this, my F-150 should do a lot better.

The 150 for tools was an estimate for tools & aluminum mounted box. The equalizer hitch and bars will add quite a bit of extra. I'm sure it will do the job. A half ton will do the job of a one ton. I put a 2000# camper on my F150 1995 short bed PU with 6 cyl engine. It just wore out faster and I had more maintenance.

🙂 Hi, this is the sticker for my 2014 F-150. It's a crew cab, 4X4, 5.5' bed, XLT, with an Ecoboost. Mine has LT tires and it shows on the sticker. 2015 F-150's have tires that don't have a "P" or "LT" on them.

You have the max towing package, a rare find an adds about 400 pounds of payload over the standard lot truck truck.

It seems Ford removed about 700 pounds compared to a 2014 but also lowered GVWR by about half that. The former 8200 pound GVWR HD payload package with 7 lugs is now 7850 with 6-lugs for 2015.

🙂 Hi, Yes I searched a few dealers and nobody had a max tow on the lot. This one was found in Reno, Nevada and trailered to Salem, Oregon.

All those things listed by the OP take payload away from the truck. Crew cab, 4x4, 5.5 bed, 5.0 liter. It's not a serious towing truck. The payload is a lot more than previous model years with the same equipment.

Those tires are P rated tires. You don't get an LT tire on a F-150 from the factory unless you order at least the HD tow package.

Tires are P rates, based on the 113T listed. 113 is the load category; T is the speed. I'm not aware of any of the half tons offering LT tires for 20" wheels. 18" and smaller LT offerings for half tons, or 20" on 3/4+ tons.

Anyway, that's a good payload for a truck typically found on dealer lots. Ford quickly followed GM from 2014 by bumping the payloads.
