I found this on You Tube and I thought that it is worth sharing . The Trailer and tow vehicle that were
beautifully restored by a Canadian Gentleman, named Ken Hindley from Union,Ontario, are a work of art from 1938.

Our old 1960 International grain truck was a double clutcher with a 2 speed axle. It was actually easier once under way to not use the clutch but just feather the throttle and slide the gears right through.

Very cool. Got me thinking I'd transfer the hitch from my '11 to my '37 for this weekends trip . . . After all, it's a 3/4 ton with a 216ci - 3 more than the International.

Maybe a photo op

It might work if the walls of your 5th wheel are built with the same construction techniques as this one(like the fabric covered wing of a bi-plane).

When I first joined our Volunteer Fire Department, my first truck was a 1957 Ward LaFrance that you HAD to double clutch or it would go nowhere. Also no power steering .

Way cool. Thanks for sharing. That tow car and 5th wheel from another era are absolutely beautiful, and make you really wonder about the folly of those resorts that turn up their noses at anything more than 10 years old.

It's wonderful to see someone driving one of those old "crash box" transmissions with such skill. Dunno how many folks will notice his double-clutching every shift, and not once crashing the gears.

Yes I did notice the double-clutching. My Dad had an old chevy pickup that had to be double-clutched for a smooth shift. Hate to admit I am old enough to remember having to double-clutch.
How about his pin weight! I am guessing it is in the 30-40% range.

I noticed that, it's been so long since I drove a non-syncro I doubt I could do it once

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.
