Campsite Configuration/Setup????

I have been RV camping for almost 15 years, but still haven't found a consistent way to arrange or configure my "stuff"

How do you guys set up your stuff?

I just got back from a long weekend and realized, I did it all wrong. Looks like I'll have to go camping again soon and try to correct myself.

I like most of the others say it is really going to depend on the site. We do use the rug but our sites are at lakes and most of them (here in KY) have gravel or pavement just about even with your entrance door. We try to locate the fire pit & ring away from the underside of the awning.

We got rid of our 'Safe' rug several years ago. It got wet nearly every trip, started to mildew, and it went in the trash.
We make do without one. In our trailer we use something called a broom.
( Actually my wife does 😉 )

Seriously??? Have not experienced that yet, but most my camping has been Alberta and BC... Something to keep in mind next time I'm down in the states!

Seriously! Some will have awnings over the table and concrete pads with table fastened down or even the table and benches made of concrete. The parks we have stayed in other states do the same in state & COE.

I've camped in everything from tents to Class A's over the last 30 years, and I have to say that if you took the time to draw a picture, then you are severely overthinking it.

About the only thing constant that I do is I put the table under the kids emergency exit window. I want them to be able to get out in a hurry and even with the table under the window it's about a two foot drop. I have one maybe two chairs next to the door under the awning. The rest just kind of gets moved around to where it needs to be at that time.

Back when I had a real awning, instead of the current useless electric fair weather thing, I would set my table 90 degrees from what you show. When it rained, I could still use the bench next to the trailer. Setting it as you show may allow rain water to stream in.

The state parks and COE you cannot move the tables as they have them bolted down. We are always dragging our chairs around for shade or watching newbies. The rug is down for the dogs to lay on.

I have a general way I setup... but I agree with everyone, it all depends on the site and where I am. Most occasions, if possible, I move the picnic table around.

We have a new trailer this year, so I've really started to change up my design. On our new trailer, we have a flip down metal rack which I have been using as a cook station as my cooking table warped over the winter and i've been too lazy to go get a new one. This has worked particularly well so far...

We also have to find a home for our three dogs and baby, so it's a work in progress. I'll share some pics eventually 🙂

DaDubs, I think the key is to set up however makes you happy. I rarely set up the same way twice, but I rarely set up in the same place twice. When I return to a place I've been before I only sometimes remember how I set up last time...

Dadubs when the complaints came out about the fire next to your camper, I could not find the fire. I looked at least 4 times and all I saw was a grill with a couple of chickens grilling. To answer your question it depends on the site.
