Do You Lower Your Jacks When Parked

Recently we saw a TC camped out in an RV campground with its jack posts lowered ... I suppose for additional stability when parked. We have never done this and if fact, never thought of doing it until we saw it for ourselves.

Do you lower your jack posts for stability when parked?

When I am by myself I do not lower the jacks but the DW insists on them being lowered when she is on board. I level the truck using the lego blocks which I find to be very easy to drive up onto when in 4x4 low range. Then only slight leveling is needed with the jacks so I never need to disengage my fastguns.

I do this^, Except I use lengths of PT 2X10's instead of Lego blocks.

Way too time consuming even with powered jacks. My beverage is waiting.

I have a memory foam mattress that doesn't disturb the other sleeper when turning over, climbing out, etc. It truly works. I'd be crazy not to lower the jacks for camper stability and destroy the bliss.

Heck I put caster wheels on mine and lower 'em while driving, more axles, more capacity!

When we were camped for awhile or for a over nite stay I dropped the rear jack especially when were sitting broadside to the wind. Due to my med condition I can't have any swaying while laying down.

I keep two pieces of 24" wood that I put under the back jacks so I don't have to extend them down to far, only put enough weight on them to stop the wobble while in the TC.

No. Deflate the rear air suspension so axle is on the bump stops then use our sweet Anderson levellers if necessary.

I have power jacks and almost always lower them for stability. I level my truck with 2x6's under the tires and then lower the jacks to stabilize the camper from rocking in the wind and when climbing up/down from the cab-over at night. Minor leveling can also be accomplished with the jacks, no need to disconnect the tie downs as long as your not lifting the camper beyond your trucks suspension sag and off the truck box floor.

I used to drop the rear ones when on my F250 for stability if I was not towing. When towing, I used to just drop the tongue jack with the trailer still hooked up. With the 5500, I don't bother with either.
