Well, we put our Funfinder to bed today. I by passed the hot water heater, pulled the anode out and let the water out of it, then I took my long air hose and blew it out. I then blew out the water lines till nothing was coming out. Funfinder was nice and included a hose with valve so stuck that in a gallon of the pink stuff and pumped each sink till nothing but pink came out. Even did the out side hose. Took two gallons to do it all. Put a couple of cups down each drain to make sure the trap was good to go. I then wrote a detailed note telling my self what to do next May when I undue all of this. Posted this on the hot water switch where that want get turned on before the water is put in it. A G E does has it moments.

4 trips, for a total of 25 days this year. Not as much as we wanted, but no break downs and each trip was fun.

Boy I sure do like reading all your posts about winterizing, it reinforces just how lucky I am to never have to do that again! :W

Sigh... Our last scheduled trip is this weekend, low temps starting to get down into the 30s... Since I can't keep mine at home and it needs some minor warranty work done on the underbelly... This weekend is probably the last outing for us till April... ;(

One broken nose, one dead skunk on our campsite, a famtastic trip to Fort Wilderness and Disney... Over too soon!! But we made a lot of great lifelong memories this year!

Yep, our camping time has just started here in TX. Will be heading down to the coast in Nov for 3 weeks. Will have to keep an eye on the weather as it has snowed down on the coast during Thanksgiving.

I was just reading the posts, sad time. We are usually camping close to 45 days a season. I hate to say it but we did not get 15 this year. Our last outing was 8 days during the 4th of July time period. I am glad that we enjoyed it. Most of the time we can camp and my wife can still go to work from several camp grounds in our area. We have a grand daughter that is living with us now that is in high school. Just when you think you have it made. I just put the RV Anti-freeze about an hour ago. Maybe next year's will be better, hoping.

Very well said. Although the snow in Northwest Montana puts a damper on camping from about November through April, we live for glorious summers at all our lakes and mountain retreats. We are new to the TT lifestyle, so we expect to use winter to modify and outfit the trailer so each new season will be better!

I may be done too. I'm a farm hand and we will be in the field from now until it's hip deep in snow. I store the camper in a machine shed on my farm site and sometimes in the winter I go to the camper and pretend camp.

I haven't winterized yet, I bought a water heater bypass this year and hope to get time to get it installed. My camper never had one before and the first year I had to use about 8 gallons of anti-freeze to winterize it. Last year I just blew the lines with air and left a electric space heater running in the camper all winter long. Neither if these options was cheap so I'm hoping to get the by-pass installed if I get the time.

Are you able to park your camper at home over the winter? IF so why not plan on winter driveway camps. We do this all winter. We keep a port a potty and dump in the bathroom in the house. Watch TV, sleep in the camper, enjoy it throughout the winter. Do not need water in the camper when at home. Keep a plastic sink pan in the kitchen sink so nothing accidently goes down the drain, shower in the house. You have to heat it up of course but it sure is nice and cozies when snow is on the ground. We enjoy ours all winter, just no water.

We keep it at home, but I am not going to use a port a potty and have no water. Its there and I do go out weekly and check on it. I like our wood stove in the house, when there is snow on the ground.

4 more weekends of camping, winterize on Nov 1 and put cover on it until Dec 23. Pull cover off, restock and head to Myrtle Beach on Dec 27 for a week. Winterize and cover again until end of March. This will be first year we will use camper at Christmas and first time using it in winter after winterizing. I just can't stand the 5 months of no camping from nov to April. Figured the beach will give us the fix we need.

We just returned from our last scheduled trip of the season. We totaled almost 8 weeks. We wanted to add another trip, but we need to have some hail damage repairs done. Our season usually runs from mid April through October. A lot depends on the weather. I always hate putting my trailer to sleep. Even though we still go hiking and fishing locally its not the same. Oh well, time to start planning for next year!

This weekend will be our final trip of the year before I learn how to winterize our new rig. We spent just under 30 days camping, which is pretty good since we bought it a couple days before Independence Day. We are planning lots of camping trips when the snow is gone in April. Or May. Or perhaps in June!

This is going to almost be a full year for us. We pulled out of Virginia the last week in February, rolled across the south, the southwest, and into LA. Then back through the Grand Canyons, Kansas, Michigan and back home. A total of 46 days on the road.

Then we had a number of 3 and 4 days trips, including spring football game, a wedding, a Beach Music Festival, a Riverfest, and a Bluegrass festival.

Then we rested most of August before begining fall football season. Beginning Labor Day weekend, we had a home football game, then headed to Michigan for a few days and then went back down to Columbus, OH. After that, we've been to 3 more home games, and this weekend we'll be in Chapel Hill.

Fortunately, we'll be able to rest about 15 days, then it's back at it for a Thursday night game, then Nov 1 at home, then 10 days on the road to Durham & Winston Salem, NC. plus a possible final home game after Thanksgiving.

Then we'll be off until a possible bowl game late in December.

Needless to say, we'll be camping with dry fresh water tanks a few games. In those cases, we'll be carrying drinking water in bottles.

In early January, we'll be completely putting ours to bed.
