Ecoboost Thread????

I'm getting old and my memory is not what it was at one time. But I could swear I was reading an Ecoboost thread here last night with a link to a story about a guy in Canada with multiple engine failures. Anyone remember such a thread last night or is dementia setting in?

He sure had some bad luck, and was treated poorly by Ford.

Moral of the story, they all make a lemon once in a while, and not all technicians are as competent as they should be.

When you buy a truck it comes with an engine. Pics above show that engine was replaced. That's engine #1. Documentation shows a new engine was installed. That would be engine #2.

About a week ago engine #2 let go. Ford has not yet replaced that engine. It's still in the truck at the dealer which is located 12 hours from my home.

The service manager called me to let me know it would be a full warranty replacement and that engine 2 seemed to go out in the same way as engine #1.

#174 They've diagnosed it as having a ventilated block.

Haven't heard anything else.
#254 The latest engine lasted 4500 kms.

I drove home from work last night and was maybe 20 minutes from home when the truck went all wacko. Gauges bouncing everywhere. Made some horrible noise from the rear end and poof. It puked its guts on the highway.

OK have to leave for work will finish later.

As I read it, he was on his 4th engine, not that he had blown up his 4th engine.

em, no one of the failures (number 3) was due to the #4 cylinder losing it's spark-plug. IDK if it was a plug failure or a failure to get the plug in properly

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

My plant builds torque converters and everyone is tested before it is built into a vehicle. I can tell you if one fails in the filed there is hell to pay! Chrysler makes us cut open the TC to find the root cause of the failure. I can not fathom Ford allowing this dealership to install four engines and not doing a root cause analysis to find out what caused the first then second then third and then still a fourth engine to be destroyed.

But then when you have customers willing to keep buying your products even after repeated failures, why should they? BTW I should know I used to be one of their customers that did the very same thing! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Some people can break crowbars and anvils too! Just like any mechanical device...with abuse they are not indestructible. BUT with 4 engines...that my friend leads me to believe either dealership work, user abuse/operation or a combination of both was the culprit.

Read it 3 times. Didn't see where he was hard on it. Just driving it to work.

From his posts:

"As far as me being hard on the truck goes.
Yep. You bet I am."

"So flooring an Eco will break it?"

That's the link, but I don't think the mods liked where that thread was headed. Who knows, maybe they own Ford stock.:B
