I am looking at buying a new TT. The model I'm looking at has an electric awning. i have always had the manual awnings. Does anyone know how reliable the electric ones are ? I may order it with a manual instead.

Thanks

One of the joys of a manual awning to me is sitting under it during rain and thunderstorms. I love the feeling of being dry with all of the rain coming down around me. I also love that all of my chairs and other outside stuff stays dry during the rain.

Like most would not want to go back to manual after electric,1-1/2 years with our dometic electric awning being put in and out every weekend from april until oct.with no problems. Electric awning comes in for the same weather as the manual did.

There is a lot to be said about that. ^^

Ease of use and it gets used more. I too like my electric awning, and if it is that bad out that I have to bring it in then chances are I am not lounging under the awning either. Typically I have a couple small coffee tables and lounge chairs out under the awning, so I have no qualms pulling it in when needed. I would not go back to a manual awning.

I hardly ever used the manual awning on my last trailer, too much work unless we were staying someplace for multiple nights. Now the new one with an electric awning we use all the time, so easy and quick to go in and out. I would definately not go back.

My power awning gets rolled up when the weather is downright nasty and I wouldn't be outside anyway. I don't roll it up in a breeze. It does just fine unless it's very windy.

Second season with an electric awning and same here - would not go back to manual for all the rice and ST tires in China.... It's sooo nice to just stand at our door, hold the button down and watch it go in/out in seconds.

I do worry about the wind damaging it. I could be wrong, but I think they are more susceptible to wind damage because they don't have the arms going down at a steep angle like on the manual ones which brace it better. We were near Spokane in August and there was an emergency short notice, high wind alert on the radio while we were out sightseeing. We were able to get back and bring the awning in before the storm rolled in otherwise we could have lost it.

Another time we were camping next to the Pacific ocean and the wind was blowing non-stop every day. Some folks had their manual awnings out and anchored to the ground. Nobody with electric ones ever had them out. You can't anchor the electric ones down like the manual ones.

I think it's the Colorado electric awnings that have an optional wind sensor that closes it automatically when the wind picks up.

I like mine because my wife can roll it out. One less thing for me to do.

Had a manual on the HTT and a huge PITA to put up quickly....as in when a storm blows in within seconds. The TT has an electric and can be tilted manually...one touch of the button and it's in and so are we. No fighting with the brackets, etc on the manual.

Yup, and that's why I hardly ever roll out my manual awning. See the post above.

One time this summer when I was out camping there was a threat of high winds though they were not blowing yet. As I walked through the campground the only people that had there awnings out were the ones with the electric awning. Everyone else had left theirs in just to be on the safe side.

Personally , where I camp I hardly ever use my awning. I've had it out once in the last 2 years. But, I'm only a weekend camper that usually camps where there is shade. The one time I had it out was at a casino for a concert. The campground there is basically just a parking lot and it was nice to have a place in the shade to set while we waited for the music to start.

Four years without issue! Electric awnings (with the auto dump feature) are the way to go! Most of the negative comments are from those without them.......uninformed ? Jealous? ...lol.....who knows, just get it, it is the way to go!

Almost a year with our first electric awning. We wouldn't buy another manual. Remember when electric car windows were rare?
