Ford 6.2 L opinions

I'm looking at trading up maybe within the next year or two, and was wondering what the consensus is on the performance of the 6.2L in an F250/350 supercab/crewcab. Don't want a diesel, so not going there.

Maybe it's your wording but the 48 gallon fuel tank is the standard tank with crew cab long box. Not available as an option.

I wish Chevy would pull their head out of their asses and offer a reasonable size fuel tank!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely! If Ram and GM don't step up and offer a big tank ......well nothing will happen, but it sure would be nice!

Lots of power, comfort, quiet. 6th gear is overdrive, so if you're climbing any hills you have to lock it out in tow/haul mode

5th gear is also an OD gear.

My 2016 F250 with the 6.2 keeps impressing me.

Lots of power, comfort, quiet. 6th gear is overdrive, so if you're climbing any hills you have to lock it out in tow/haul mode.

Carrying 3000 lbs of camper is no problem. Towing an 8000 lbs skid steer and trailer is no problem.

It likes to be about 3200-3500 rpms for the power sweet spot if you're climbing hills, but it's nice and quiet.

I get 9 mpgs (loaded), give or take a few tenths depending on where the wind is coming from. Empty tooling around town and some highway cruising it gets 12.2 mpg. 14.5-ish consistently empty on the highway.

And, it's CHEAP compared to a diesel.

I remember reading that the new transmission for the f250 was specific for the gasoline engine and would improve performance and mpg. Ford also has an optional 48 gallon gas tank, but I think you have to have the long bed.

We have several 6.2L Super Duties at my work and they have all been bulletproof. I wouldn't hesitate to own one if my trailer was smaller and lighter.

Nothing wrong with the 6.2L, but check its towing specs. The V10 makes more torque and will pull just about anything. 6.2L gets better fuel economy.

The old 6R140 transmission is bulletproof and is still used in all higher level (F350/450/550) Super Duties and Medium Duties (F650/750). The 6R100 is sort of an unproven commodity.

^ Theyll all be a bit anemic when you mash the skinny pedal with a big trailer behind them. But they do better then the big blocks of the 90s.
Still nothing special compared to the 8.1GM or either V10 just a bit more efficient.

You could be waiting a VERY long time if you are holding out for an EB in a Superduty.

OP, the 6.2 is pretty universally accepted as a very good engine.

SRW 350 with the 6.2 and 4.30 gears is a really good truck. I got the Gm 6.0 and don't mind towing with a gas engine at all. Can't go wrong with either and I will also include the Hemi 6.4. I know that you only asked about the Ford, so even the 250 series and 4.30 set with 6.2 would be a great towing machine. I saw a new one the other day..... Wow they are nice. im sure that you will be happy with it.
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

Looks like the new transmission is a 6R100. It must be a bit more rugged than the 6R80 in the F150
