Is your Ram towing as Good as it should?

Or does it not have the power it should have. It seems that Ram is putting the WRONG gear in their trucks. Seems if you ordered a 3.55.1 axle. You could have got a 3.21.1 axle.
AND they won't even offer to change it out once you catch it. That's just wrong.
Lawsuit now in progress.

Come on folks. He didn't get what he was told he had. They should swap the gears or the axle and flash the truck computer to make it all right.
It's cheaper than lawyers and the bad feelings about Mopar it is creating and it would be the right thing to do.

Ram doesn't have 3.55 gearing in the 2500-3500. Only 3.42, 3.73 and 4.10.
Shouldn't be towing with a 1500 anyway :B

Making a mountain out of a mole hill. We don't know enough at this point. An argument could be made that the "victim" in this case is just trying to play the system for a payout. And Ram does offer 3.92 with their Ecodiesel.

Yes mistakes happen. My problem with the whole thing is that Ram would NOT correct the mistake. All they have to do to make every one happy is change out the Axle. 30 min on a lift, and flash the computer 10 min in the shop.

But no. they offer him worthless Mopar dollars.

As for the 3.55 HD towing. Might be for the EcoDiesel???

Those who're in the auto industry were speculating on what could've happened yesterday in the comments. The axle units are shipped to final assembly from the supplier as a completed unit and they're all bar-coded. The units are scanned to verify that the right unit gets installed in the truck. They suspect that the supplier mislabeled the axles with the wrong bar codes.

If it's really just a few isolated cases then I don't know why FCA just didn't step up and change out the guys gears to keep him quiet. I had a little chuckle when one article referred to 3.55's as the heavy duty gears for towing.

What axle do you get if you order the 3.92 rear end?

I don't know enough about towing to be able to tell these things just from driving. I know my RAM tows a lot better than my station wagon did. Having criss-crossed the various mountains between Michigan and Alaska I was never once short of power, never had to climb a grade "wide open". Never felt out of control on braking.

Here is a link.

Also read the below on a Dodge Forum:

"Also apparently FCA as other manufactures do the same had sent out corrected window stickers that were to be posted but the dealer for some reason had not posted this one when this guy had bought the truck so it is not like FCA was attempting to be fraudulent, the dealer is the one who made the mistake but it gets a little more interesting in this truck had been transferred between dealers and that it seems may be where the issue with the correct window sticker happened."
