Low Forum Activity?

I'm noticing since coming back to the forum recently that overall activity level on all of RV.net is very low. Even on Tow Vehicles, Around The Campfire and Fifth Wheels, all that used to be very busy forums, are now practically dead.

Use to be, a post could be made one day, and by the next day, if nobody replied to it, it would be buried 4 or 5 pages back on a busy forum like Tow Vehicles and Around the Campfire. Even Truck Campers it would be back on page 2 or 3 by the next day.

Have alot of folks left the forum in the past year or two? I still see alot of the same regulars I used to see, but notice some are also missing so far and I dont see a lot of newby posts as I used to see.

Agreed. Creative and self-reliant freethinkers. Probably better looking also.

I'll drink to that! :B

The moderators, especially here in the truck camper forum, and on the rv.net forum in general, have typically been very good, fair, personable and nice to know, for all the 10 years I've been coming here.

I suspect it is more "Power" than "Pay". Some people get off on the power to delete, modify, or censor others…….

People who become mods for those reason have no business being a mod. They run off good forum members and suck the life out of a forum. There are plenty of forum moderators out there like that; most of the mods I am aware of on this forum don’t have those traits and only became mods because “somebody has to do it” for the forum to exist.

Maybe he's missing the knock down drag out discussion's we used to have.

The TC forum has settled down quite a bit over the past 2 years.
Before, the 2 Mod's and Admin had their work cut out for them. Now we have only 1 mod...and he's mostly bored...

I think the TC forum members for the most part are some of the most creative folks in all the other forums..

There are lots of great members here on RV.NET and on the TC forum who are very helpful and who are happy to answer questions. Unfortunately, there are a vocal few here who are anything but.

I grew weary of the anything but crowd. Sad.

I know a couple of reasons. As mentioned, "Search" usually supplies the necessary information. Think about it, there has to be ten times as much information available in the archives as there was seven or eight years ago when these things were booming. That and places like etrailer are providing some valid information instead of the forum guesses.

Plus Google is getting better and better at finding all of this information, even with misspelled words and misnamed items.

The number of responses to this thread is tending to disprove your postulate.

joe b hits it pretty much on the head..I'm a few years behind him and my income was not as good as his but I was able to have my horses and my bikes and a truck and camper to help enjoy my bikes and horses.
In 1975 I looked into flying, even took the get acquainted flight lessons. I could afford the plane but not without getting rid of
the bikes and horses.
Several years ago we once more looked into getting an airplan. Ouch!! If someone gave us one we couldn't afford the upkeep or the flight time to get and stay proficient.

Yes! Right on.

I,m also a member of tractorbynet. Choose between tractor or truck? I've already made that choice many times.I have to have both but if it got right down to it the pickup would be the last to go.That would be the same order in which I started. Pick up, Tractors, equipment, bigger tractors to run bigger equipment, bigger trucks to move bigger equipment...it's a chase and now it's time to start downsizing.
So maybe we will have more time to enjoy the RV and the horses.

Not sure if forum traffic is down or not but I see, what appears to be a real ageing of many of the RVers I see in campgrounds. Much of this is due to economics in my opinion.

Good points all. It is obvious to me that the RV lifestyle peaked some years ago. Our group ate breakfast at one of the more popular parks this morning. The ten of us were the only ones present in a room big enough for over two hundred. I know that it is early in the season, but not that early. With the cost of RV's and fuel to get here, many are choosing to drive an economy car and stay at hotels. Others are flying to more distant destinations for shorter visits. All of this is not a bad thing for those of us lucky enough to enjoy RVing. Less crowds, cheaper rents, and less need for reservations. Probably a few less posts on our favorite forums also.
