Need new mattress

Finally got a chance to take the 05 Lance out this last weekend for the first time since spring due to chasing wildfires most of the summer. DW and I agree that either the 8 year old mattress or we have gotten lumpier in the last few years and we hope that it is the mattress that needs replacing. It is the original Lance queen with about 4 inches of coil springs and about 2 inches of padding on top.
We want to be like Goldie Locks and find the mattress that is JUST RIGHT!
So, looking to the group to find out what others have done to upgrade the mattress in your TC. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

Walmart has several different ones. The one we put in our RV was an 8" mattress. It fit perfectly in the place that our RV short queen had been. It is EXACTLY the same spot. It is longer than the RV short, and does hinder the operation of the bed raising, but we only put a few things under there that are seasonal (heater, fan, etc.).

FYI - it CAN be shortened with an electric knife, but it is in a zippered cover.

We have a TempurPedic at home and after spending about 50 nights in our RV this summer, I had just had it with that springy, lumpy, bumpy thing that was in it. Walmart had their Spa Sensations memory foam mattress on sale for $219 with free shipping. I ordered it on Sunday night, got it on Thursday and put it on the bed on Friday morning. On Friday night, I slept so very well. We spent another 30 nights in the RV and I slept so well each night.

I have ordered another one to put on another bed in the house - ordered it last night.

I realize that it probably won't last as long as my TempurPedic, but it was 1/10th of the cost!!!

How thick is that mattress??
We have a lumpy and added a 2 1/2" memory foam to the Palamino(fold down). It takes up too much space.

I know WM has some but how thick is yours?

Thanks

I put in a set of high dollar mattress's from the Mattress Factory. I had them re-enforce the edges so the won't roll over as they wear.

I went out and bought a new bed for home, then put the old mattress from the bedroom in the camper.

This way I get a mattress that I am used to, and like, in the camper. Only problem is the new old mattress in the camper is a few inches thicker than the old old mattress, so I can't store the blankets and pillows sandwiched in between the bed and roof anymore.

I got a 6'' memory foam the advantage is that if the head is on an angle like in ours you can cut it the only disadvantage of the memory foam it becomes very firm when it is cold and no heat in the camper so you have to warm up the camper before going to bead you can also add a matress warmer

I bought a full size Serta Posture Pedic Queen matress from a local mattress store and I took full advantage of their free delivery, installation and haul away the old mattress for free offer. I did enjoy letting them wrangle the new mattress into place. That said replacing the old thin lumpy OEM with the new mattress was the absolute best mod I have done to the TC more than worth the loss of 4" of head room

I'd go the 4" memory foam... Or do a Yellow Pages or Google search for a guy that makes custom mattress(s)... I've done both... The mattress guy I used made me a custom one for the travel trailer (its a really funky sized mattress... plus I had him make me one for home... I'm a big heavy guy.... After 2 or 3 store mattresses I got tired of a bad back and sleeping in a gully.... Believe it or not the mattress guy used to make a ton of mattresses for the rv mfg people but the one he made me for home is far superior to what I could buy anywhere at any of the mattress stores and I only spent 800 bucks for a double sided pillow top custom made (I even got to pick out the density of the foam I wanted) and had him put extra handles on the thing... Way easier to move and turn it... on the front bottom and both sides of the mattress.... and he even delivered it.... and it took him about a week to make it.....

Just my experience.....

Oh the one he made for the travel trailer similar design and allot nicer than any stock mattress you'd get with a camper or travel trailer... I think I spent about 300.....

Pick what you like at any mattress store. In our case we replaced the mattress at home and bought the exact same one sans box springs for the trailer. Sleep like a dream either place.

2" Memory foam topper, cuts down on the already slim headroom up there but sure is nice and comfortable and warm on those cold nights.

Hope you guys had fun on the John's Canyon run.
