new Escalade as TV

I just bought an escalade esv. it is new and has the 6.2l with 420hp and 460tq. It also has the 8 speed transmission. Has anyone used this setup or the yukon xl for towing a camper? Thank you.

My BIL purchased a one of these Escalades last year and although they don't use it to tow it's a very impressive vehicle with very impressive power. The vehicle even has swede leather on the dash.

I'm really impressed. we have 1200miles on it now. the 8 speed is also a major improvement.

The 6.2 gasser is a decent engine for power. Def not a duramax but does ok for gas.

Nice vehicle you have purchased!

My question to you is, how do you like the vehicle? Have you towed with it yet?

I have been thinking about a 2015 Yukon Denali XL with the same engine.

I currently tow with a 2005 Excursion 6.0 PSD, which is fine power wise, but is lacking in handling compared to a more modern vehicle. In fact the 6.2 has better numbers than the Ford 6.0.

I also want to stay with a SUV.

WHOA! Possibly even better if they are UHP-XL's (Ultra High Performance with Extra Load capacity at higher PSI)

I used to tow with low profile UHP tires on a smaller SUV and I can tell you they are as good or even better for highway towing. Extremely stable sidewalls provide a very solid towing experience.

Because it is NOT designed to be a TV...but armored personal vehicle for the rich/famous/etc

1/4"...3/8" or thicker steel plate is HEAVY....plus the VIP, their guards and of course guns...

For diplomats...the Gatling gun or the 50 Cal equiped Suburban is normally part of the Presidents motorcade

I have a 2016 sierra 1500. Max tow with the 6.2 and 8spd. I am towing a trailer that is probably 8500 pounds ready to camp. The engine and transmission are awesome!! I went from a Ram Hemi 8spd to the GMC. The Ram transmission shifted better unloaded but the payload on the Ram was minuscule.

What does a load rating of "110" mean?

Load index. It means each tire is rated to support 2337lbs.
