I just bought an escalade esv. it is new and has the 6.2l with 420hp and 460tq. It also has the 8 speed transmission. Has anyone used this setup or the yukon xl for towing a camper? Thank you.

The Escalade towing the horse trailer was possibly the 2500 version, like my Suburban k2500 which has the 12,000# rating. Sounds like yours is the standard version which is a 1500 series or half ton. I pull now with an F 250 with the 6.2l and a 6 speed. The Burb had a 3 speed, the six speed makes a great difference, so the eight speed, I imagine would also be nice. Gearing makes a big difference.
Unfortunately there is not a 2500 version of the new gm suv. The only available powertrains are the 5.3 in the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon and the 6.2 available in the Yukon Denali and Escalade. If 2500 was an option i would have got it. I will try to add a link to the video.

If you will be towing anywhere near max and have P275/55R-20 tires swap them out for LT265/60R-20.
Never mind the "hot rod" motor comment. The 6.2L is a BEAST for towing. It simply isn't meant to be an HD "work truck" engine. That's all.
the tires are 285/45/22s ,load rating is 110

I have a 2016 sierra 1500. Max tow with the 6.2 and 8spd. I am towing a trailer that is probably 8500 pounds ready to camp. The engine and transmission are awesome!! I went from a Ram Hemi 8spd to the GMC. The Ram transmission shifted better unloaded but the payload on the Ram was minuscule.

What does a load rating of "110" mean?
