New Truck Just in time for camping!!!!

So the wife and I deceided that it was time for something a bit newer that would allow the family to take some longer road trips with out being concerned about break-downs (well less so).

New truck in question is a 2014 F150 crew 2x4 6.5' box with the 5.0 black in color.

It's going to be a pretty basic XLT with the only options being Brake controller, remote starter, trailer tow, and the HD payload pkg (8200 gvwr). I don't know the exact payload yet but it should be 2300-2400 or so.(sweet)

Since joining here I have learned that not all full size trucks can pull any TT so we bought what will tow the next trailer. Current trailer is 5500gvw 26'.

I think the thing that will help towing the most is the added 41'! of wheel base over my 2000 Yukon.

Now the waiting. 5-6 weeks:( Oh well, hopefully the weather will break by then.

Thanks all for the knowledge I have recieved here without which I would have made the wrong choice (probably);).

Strictly a cost vs need equation. Plus we plan on keeping it for a good while so the resale isnt a huge factor.

Same reasoning for us.

Congrats OP.... nice choice and you're wise to go new. New vehicles are the safest, most reliable, most comfortable and, of course, have a nice warranty. It's a good feeling to be rolling down the road and not care about a squeak or rattle 🙂

Good choice with the HD payload package. It still rides fairly well compared to a 3/4 ton and handles a load significantly better than a standard 1/2 ton. There's no bounce and roll like you have with a softer 1/2 ton. You are really going to like it when you hook up the trailer.

5-6 weeks delivery.
By then there should only be 2 or 3 feet of snow left in Barrie:)
Enjoy the new truck when it finally arrives.

Love the 5.0L/HD pkg combo in black. Great choice.

To quote Tom Petty, "the waiting is the hardest part." The next 5 weeks are going to feel like 5 months for you, but if you're like me & actually enjoy the anticipation you'll catch yourself smiling a lot.

Looking forward to pics when you get it home!

I think you did good. The ecoboost has a few problems and the 5.0 is a proven and solid motor

Thanks, I really hummed and hawed about the eco-boost but here in Canada It gets rolled in with the 301pkg at a cost of 3400. I think the 5.0 will do great for what we need it to do. Its already an 80hp improvement over what I have now.:)
