My Audi has a cap but I really like the way the fuel door works. No button. If the car is locked, the fuel door is locked. If the car is unlocked, the fuel door is unlocked. You just give it a little push on the edge and it pops open. Anyone else have this system?
Yes, on both Touareg TDI's and the Passat TDI SE also.
Same here on my Acura.

Interesting TV show last night about baby boomers. Ford has auto engineers whose job it is to design ergonomics for the aging "baby boomer" population.
The cap less fuel filler appears to be one of them. We are a large majority buying their (all manufacturers) cars but we are also getting old and loosening and tightening a gas cap can get hard with our arthritic hands.

I wonder if there is a safety aspect for everyone ,to prevent fumes leaking when filling up?

It was better when people didn't pump their own gas, when you pulled in and said "fill it up". The attendant gassed your car, cleaned your windshield and if asked (and often even if not) checked your oil and tires. It made lots of jobs for young people too.
People used to be employed to shovel horse waste before there was gas.
I don't agree with you and the marketplace has spoken. People prefer DIY.

So why can't you pump your own gas in Oregon? Also do they have signs posted so people from out of town know not to pump it their self?

Because the lawmakers thought the good people of that state were incompetent to pump their own gas without blowing themselves up. If you've ever been to Oregon Don, you would.............awwwwww never mind. :B

It's an industry thing, not Ram specific. The door has a seal that seals to the fill pipe. No need for anything else.
