A few weeks ago we decided to take a weekend trip to one of our favorite RV spots. We called a week in advance which in the past had been more than adequate. I guess other people have caught on how nice this place is. We were told they were full. Here's the part I don't understand. The guy on the phone asked me what kind of rig I had. Told him a TT. He said the only site they had available was for a MH..... Why would it matter if I have a TT or a MH? Do you have a site available? Yes, then rent it to me.

Wow some folks do tend to get kind of excited about things don't they? I am not mad at this campground. We have stayed there many times and it is one of our favorite places. We are hoping to get a site next month for a trip. Since we are familiar with this campground the things I know are. All site carry the same price, all sites are layed out the same as to utilities. They do have a group of sites that are dedicated for groups but he did not mention these. I do plan on asking them why we were turned down when/if we get a reservation for next month. It is the only RV park in this little town. We normally see everything from Truck Campers to TT and 5th wheels up to mega class A tour busses there. Its a great place, I think the poor guy on the phone was a little stressed out when I called. Who knows.

That is fine, but I shouldn't be paying the same as someone in a nice flat, grassy site when I'm in some corner of the park squeezed in next to the dumpster. A ghetto site should come with a ghetto price.

Sure, that also does happen..

Have seen many folk PUSHING a popup up hill by hand between trees into some rather odd campsites..

I am NOT that "dedicated" or desperate to go to that kind of work.

Hmm.. I don't understand YOUR "logic".

You don't "own" the campground..

The campground owners MAKE the "rules", they may have saved YOU from smashing up your rig or other campers or causing major damage to the campground its self.

If a campground deems a site is for Motor Homes there is most likely a darn good reason to do so.

I would bet a fair chance that IF they would have allowed you to take that space, you would be here on the forum griping about a busted up TT due to too narrow of a road, too many trees in the way or now way to safely back your rig in :R

I personally think they may have SAVED YOU FROM YOURSELF..

Many campgrounds will restrict sites for various reasons.. One I go to a lot asks for trailer length.. They KNOW the longest trailer that can fit on any of their 1,500 sites.. They will not put a 30 ft trailer on a lot that fits a 20 ft trailer.. So if the 20ft lot is all that is left and you have a 22ft, 24ft, 30ft trailer you ARE out of luck.

There ARE other campgrounds, simply move on and put this behind you and move on with life.

MH site.......allows rig to pull straight in.
Utilities on drivers side/camp site---table etc on passengers side

TT using a MH site......TT backs in
Utilities right out entry door.........TT sewer/electric/water has to be run under TT
Camp site.......table on drivers side of TT

I can't speculate. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

I get upset when we reserve a specific site and then it gets changed on us. If we are just going by ourselves, its an annoyance but not that big of a deal. Usually we camp with friends or family though, and we reserve sites together. When one of us gets bumped to a different location, that is upsetting...

I had the same issue. We reserved 2 sites near a seasonal friend of ours at the campground. When we got there we were moved to the other side of the campground. I reluctantly stayed the weekend, but will never go there again. Every time that campground comes up in conversation I am sure to tell those near me what our experience was.

Why not call the campground back and ask them why? Then, let us all know, I'm sure a lot of us would like to know, too.

I had a similar situation at a park in Gardiner, Montana. We booked a site on the river and paid extra for it. When we got there they had given our site to someone who had complained about the site they had. We ended up paying a premium price for a site no one else wanted. They were work campers and said they didn't have the authority to refund the extra money we paid. I've crossed that park off my list of campgrounds I'll go back to.
