Doing my walkaround and I spotted something amiss on my Airlift loadlifter 5000 aibags. No idea when it happened but it looks like a new upper mounts and bolts will be needed. only 80 miles of flat towing to get home. I will just drop the pressure drive easy and trust the springs and stable loads to do their thing.

Just wondering, how much pressure do you run if you've broken a bolt. I run low pressure at no more than 40.

Those are some heavily rusted bolts, I replaced all the stock bolts for my set when I got it with grade 8s, been lucky to not have sheared one yet :).

Been there a few times. Haven't broken a bolt since using grade 8 bolts. Can't tell from the pic but yours might be grade 8. I have also ripped one of the ears off. It was such a clean break it looked like a knife cut. Just one of the problems with carrying big TC's.

Ow-
Maybe its the pic perpspective-maybe your camper actually squats the truck that much-just looking at how close that lower bracket is to bottom of frame? (or between brackets). Just from here looks odd. Ya-think Ill walk outside.

Mine did the exact same thing driving frost heaves in Yellowstone.

I replaced the broken grade 5 bolts with grade 8 bolts with some large washers and never broke another one.

Good Luck,
Brad

I been there and done that several years ago. I had/have the skills and equipment to straighten out the bracket and replace the bolts. As I recall, mine did not have self-locking nuts, they do now, and I did a major reinforcement on the bracket. I might still sheer the bolts, but I will not damage the bracket, and the nuts will not loosen.

About a year before the major issue, the nuts and bolts loosened. I just blamed it on my not tightening them adequately when I installed them. When I had the major failure, bolts were missing and a couple were loose. I did not see a speed bump, and that was when the bracket was damaged.

I bent one on my 91 F350. No sure if the TC or race car hauler did it, but it had a bow to it.
