Single Slide Truck Lean

I’m currently camper shopping and have enough truck for most of the campers I’m interested in. I read in several posts that guys have had trouble with the single slide campers leaning to the slide side when on the truck due to the extra weight of the slide. With aftermarket air bags it doesn’t seem to be an issue as one side can be pumped up a little more.

My concern is with my Ram 3500 with factory air leveling I can’t adjust each side independent of the other. Is this a major issue with all of the single slide campers or just certain ones?

Thanks,
Rick

I just took apart 19 yo slide mechanism in perfect condition. I think you will have to worry about jacks sooner than slide mechanism.
Both my single slide TC did allow full use with slide in.
So the only issue is rechecking factory design and keep the rain from entering under the slide.

I agree..Besides all the slide mechanical issues and there issues in cold weather, most do not allow access and use with the slide in nor is it recommended to my knowledge using the dinette with the slide in..

But everyone has different needs...

^ It’s another potential issue for sure. Anything mechanical can break.
We’ve been “lucky” I spose, but 2 old AF campers now and no slide issues.
However if it was getting extended and retracted 1000x a year vs 20x a year, or sat outside, I could see it becoming something that needs maintenance or attention.

Apparently you haven't looked at an Arctic Fox. On the 811 and 990 the waster water tanks are on the left.

That shows pretty well how high-placed COG can kick everything out of balance very fast.
Obviously I left to reader's imagination how COG at foot level would change the picture.

The Ford's tend to sag on one side when a full wall slide is extended. I've witnessed this to be true on my Arctic Fox 1140 and my Lance 1180 loaded on two different F350 duallies.
And I've seen the one-side-sag on other parked Fords with large single slides extended.

There is no sag with the slide retracted.
You're Ram should be fine.

On my AF990, the batteries, 2 - 30 lb. propane tanks, the grey and black water tanks are on the left side, which should offset the slide on the right.

Just try to pack heavy items to the opposite side and light items on the slide side.

Airbags will help level but the weight is still out of balance.
