What to do!?!?

First off I have a 30ft travel trailer weighing in at 6400lbs loaded for camping. Right now I have a 2011 f150 fx4 ecoboost 5.5 ft bed with max tow. Im thinking about a new truck but not sure what to get. I loveeeeeeee the ecoboost for its power and fuel economy so im thinking about a new 2014 since there are great deals on them now. My question is would I be happier with a new 14 150 ecoboost with 6.5 bed for better stability or should I go f250 6.2??? Both about same price just worried about the 6.2l gas mileage as it will be my everyday vehicle and I live in western pa with a ton of stop n go and hills. Usually put 12k miles on it a year with 3k of that towing. I drive 9 miles one way to work everyday. What are your experiences thoughts on my 2 trucks im looking at? Thanks in advance!

If most of the use of the truck is daily driving duties then get another ecoboost. If you plan to go full time or close to it, get the F250/6.2.

If your just wanting to look at new trucks... go take a look at the new 2014 Ram 2500 SLT Big Horn or higher trim packages with the 6.4 Hemi. Co-worker just picked one up and I have to admit, if I was in the market for a 3/4-ton gas it would be on the top of my list.

Power wise, the ecoboost is about 1-2klbs lighter depending on your trim package and puts down pretty good numbers. So the half-ton Ecoboost will feel like it's faster. However the 3/4-ton platforms are hard to beat for their stability, it was night and day when I went from my 06 F150 with tow package, 3.73 5.4 to 08 F250 Diesel. The trailer didn't budge that truck around at all.

I have a 2011 F250 with the 6.2 gasser. I get 14-15 in town and just under 10 towing our 8.5k loaded 35ft trailer.

On the flip side if you upgrade to a nice 3/4 ton gasser you'll have an excuse to get a larger trailer:)

I would not change your 2011 F-150 for a 2014 F-150 unless there is something wrong with it or you want different equipment/trim. There are no significant changes except fuel tank size for 4WD. Save pennies for a 2015+ or enjoy the lower cost of ownership for the next 5 years.

Your 9k non-towing miles are no significant enough IMHO to warrant a half ton compromise in stability over a 3/4+ ton. So if you want an HD, get one.

The f250 will get about 11-12 mpg around town and 16 straight highway unloaded. It will probably get 7-8 towing depending on how heavy your foot is. It will also ride rougher. Other than that it will be a better towing experience not that the f150 would be a bad one.

If I was in your shoes and had no plans to go to a bigger trailer and was happy with the ecoboost I would probably keep what I had or get another ecoboost.

I drive a f150 company truck and own a 2500hd silverado as my personal vehicle and I can tell you I feel a big difference in the ride.

X2 to this, the F150 Max/Max should be a more stable package than your current F150, only issue is that it appears that the 8,200# GVWR is most likely a special order.

The EcoBoost is offered from the 6450 GVWR reg cab, to the 8200 GVWR Super Crew.

And in truth. there is no such thing as a 1/2 ton truck any more. Not since the F100.

Something wrong with your 2011 truck??? Should work great for you TT. Your TT is not all that heavy, and the EcoBoost should tow way more than that.

In fact IF you will check the Ford towing guide. You will see that the EcoBoost with a 3.73 is rated to tow more weight than the 6.2 gas with a 3.73.
