Good afternoon fellow campers! Has anyone stayed here before, the price in unbelievable and it looks like a nice getaway spot. Would love to hear your opinions, thing to do and places to see in the area. We are thinking of traveling down for a week from the Eastern Shore of MD perhaps next May to celebrate our anniversary in our new hybrid. Thanks for your help! Sue

We were there this past July, It is a great stop over campground. Very close to the interstate, but very quiet and spread out. Nice lake, playground for the kids, large sites. I had no reason to talk to any ranger nor use the restrooms, so can't comment on those. We would definitely stop by again if on our route.

Yes...they clean the roadsides with prisoners...That area is no different than any other in that retrospect...they clean the roadsides near our home here in NC. A common thing in the south...many a times you just don't see them...

We stayed there about a month ago, quite and peaceful! The Ranger was very friendly and routinely patrolled the campground. A drive to Charleston is well worth the time.... plenty to see there Patriots Point, a Harbor Cruise, The Angel Oak Tree in nearby Johns Island, Firefly Distillery etc.... The restrooms were clean and well kept, didn't have any electrical problems or hear of them.

We stopped overnight on the way to Hunting Island. We liked it alot. We did have to move from a river site to one up front because the electric was really weak in the original site for some reason. The river is beautiful and clean

Coming from Maryland, you would be closer to Poinsett State Park, which is a gem that doesn't get much traffic. Roads in park are bad, but navigatable. Mind you, bring EVERYTHING you need cause it is in the middle of nowhere.

Try and get site 17 - your hybrid will fit in it and it is the only W/E site right on a HUGE field. The dog below is inside the site:

I miss Poinsett. Very quiet, lots of hiking trails... It's just too small for my Monte now.

We stayed there as a drive through overnighter. Nice little park, but not a "destination" for our taste. Maybe a 2 night spot if you rent some canoes. We'll probably always use it to break up our trip down to Hunting Island.

If u are looking for a small campground would be great. if you prefer larger, go with Huntington Beach......good atmosphere and great bike trails + beach!

We stayed there one night last fall on the way to WDW. Nice campground only 25 sites with water and electric hookups. Not too far off I-95.Nice rangers. The only thing I didn't like was the area it's located in seemed a little run down. While driving to campground from exit there was a chain gang working next to the road, guards with shotguns and all. All South Carolina Campgrounds are cheap. We stayed at Huntington Beach SP at Christmas last year.It was $180.00 for 7 days.

We stayed there 2-3 nights this spring. Nice little campground. Restrooms were pretty clean. Place not very busy. Fished from shore a bit and just hung around. there are some canoe / kayak rentals close, one just across the river I think. Lots of shade. Nice CG hosts. We originally had planned on Givhans Ferry CG but there were working on the river front so didn't make it there. It is close by and on the river too. We didn't do much so I can't speak for the things to see around there. Out in the country and like you say, cheap. Check your voltage at site, ours was low or something at one point, kicked off the EMS once. We reported it to Ranger.
