Headin' to Florida

We are having our park model set this week and then down we go for the next 6 months. Great to finally be going:

The place I stay is Williston Crossings RV Resort, the only 2012 Good Sam 10-10-10 park in Florida. You can stay in high season for $99 your first week, $295 a week after that or $600 a month (plus electric). That is CONSIDERABLY less than just 40 miles south (Lady Lakes) or an hour away (Tampa area, Orlando area). And once you try this resort you will be comparing all others to this place - no matter where you go! Stop by and try it. If you get there come see us in site 273.

Glad you like it, I go there once in a while too but I don't like the vicious storms. Our 2 week old rig and 3 vehicles were damaged in a typical Florida storm (nasty) in March!

Hahahahaha! Now that's funny. The web site post the temp for Crossings and Ft. Meyers (check it out). They are almost always within 5 degrees of each other. Just another urban myth blown!

Come on guys, don't bring the voodoo down on me. I don't need a hurricane coming in on the gulf side (I did push some pins in a Florida map on the Atlantic side and up along the upper gulf shores just to be sure). Hex,hex hex on you!

Well, I've spent winters in Texas, Arizona and Florida. I quickly learned I HATE blowing dirt or sand, thus no Az. or Texas for me. I've got to have grass, trees and even a shower now and then. Bad bugs are only around for a couple of weeks then gone. And we're inland enough that any hurricane is no more than a heavy rain and only have had 1 in 15 years in this area. So all in all, we chose Florida but you like Az. that's why there are multiple RV parks across the nation.

Without disrespecting anyone anywhere, I'll just say that what I like about Florida in the winter compared to any of the other 'warm' states is the abundant 'greenery' - The trees, the grass, the shrubbery and flowers. Nothing compares. Also the incredible array of wildlife. I had a bear walk thru my back yard last month. There are turtles walking around and birds that are 4 feet tall (Red Headed Sand Hill Cranes), the manatee in the various springs - how long of a list do you want ? Yes we have bugs - because it never gets cold enough to kill them off !

But between the middle of October and the beginning of April, it really is heaven down here. And you can pick what kind of temps you like, from pretty doggone cool up on the northern border (might even see snow) to very temperate in the Orlando area to much warmer in the southern one-third of the state. And not to forget that one of the Keys' claims to fame is that it has never, ever been below 32 degrees.

Yes, I will complain about the summers, but never about the winters here.

I've just never seen a place like Florida. Don't forget to stop at the Visitor Center when you cross the border - gotta get that little cup of orange juice !

Where I live in Florida the Jan. average high is 79 and the low is 69. You wont find that in Arizona.

On the contrary those temps are also common in the Yuma area during the winter season. I expect to be in central Florida, south of Ocala. I recall winters being nice there, too. What I like about southern AZ is lack of humidity and abundant sunshine (sometimes too much. I like to see clouds occasionally). Many folks from northern US and Canada appear to agree as the population swells there during the season.

And....And....And you can leave your doors and windows open in Yuma and not worry about a houseful of bugs, fly's, and mosquitos

Yes, that's another point I forgot to bring out. Very few bugs most of the time. I'm not swatting flies or dealing with other creepy crawlies. I can eat outside without being "bugged".

NOTE TO LUKE: true, morning temps can get pretty low but in a short time the temps are in a good range again. I like low temps at night, anyway....good sleeping weather for me. 😉

Hey congrats; that park has sure made a turn-around and is finally being recognized for it's potential. Previous owners, while nice folks, spent way too much money on "toys" rather than maintaining or even completing the park amenities.

According to this the average Jan low in Yuma is 46---brrrrr.
