Decals are peeling off the Raptor

Most if not all the decals are starting to peel off our 2010 Keystone Raptor. This should not happen only after about 2 years. I have e-mailed Keystone to see if they will help address this issue. I realize the unit is out of warranty. However, I know this is not the kind of visible quality Keystone RV wants to convey to prospective RV buyers.

Our 2012 Greystone has a stripe on the upper front cap that's chipping.
All other decals look new.

I have a fix in mind I'll try to up some pics of before and after when I get the Scotchcal tape from 3M.

Hope it will work.

Some of the decals on my 2007 NuWa Hitchhiker are just starting to show a little curling around the edges. Since I spend most of my time in the desert southwest, usually without any shade, this is not surprising.

BTW, I've never waxed over the decals, which has probably helped them to last as long as they have.

Not just Keystone. I have seen quite a few different brands with peeling decals. Mainly on the front nose. Must be the way the bugs hit it....

My opinion.

Living full time in Arizona, no amount or variety or special sauces
can beat Mother Nature. Does the RV Industry use less then the
optimal quality application process and decal ?...probably. Can the
end user prolong the life cycle of the decal ? .... probably, as
discussed: hidden storage, frequent chemical massages, avoid decal
toxins... labor.... throw cash at it. Is decal survivability likely to change
in the foreseeable future? ... not in Arizona. Does decal cancer affect re-sale value ?...probably. (Forum members worry about the "Bones" , weekend
users worry about the cosmetics...both have their validity).

Options... remove, replace, stem to stern paint, or as above (labor). My preference... live with it, grumble about it, question why the industry "settles" for "inadequate" on $60K- 150k purchases. Perhaps consider the selling of "no decal" options for us desert dwellers...
I really wouldn't mind the loss of triplicate / quadruplicate "artic"
logos here in the Phoenix basin ... and am comfortable with plain vanilla exterior... and good grief...won't even discuss having a "Big Horn ". I did voluntarily remove Artic Fox edition of the nose-cone, and "www.free advertising.com" off the tail section.

I really appreciated the "travelling billboard" approach. Smooth.

regardless of branding trailers manufactures have gone insanely cheap, pay more money and all your getting is a fancy color and name. Thats why you dont see newer trailers holding up like ones built in the 70s and and 80s. My 2007 keystone challener decals are fine, a little faded on the front but still fine.

The graphics on out 06 3400 held up well for 5 years then started to shrink and peel at year 6 and really got bad at year 7.We maintained them as Burlington suggested and never waxed them. Keystone did send us the graphics that peeled at no cost but when we requested a full set at year 7 at the Montana Fall rally we were told that a complete set was just not available anymore but would send what they had. Keystone has changed graphic vendors but do not know if that solved the problem. We see how the graphics are applied at the factory and it is just a station on the assembly line. We were going to have a later year graphic installed and we have seen folks who did that, We however decided to get a new unit. We have seen other brand Rv's with fading and peeling graphics at campgrounds in our travels. There are graphic vendors here on the Great lakes that do marine graphics and they seem to last forever and they will do your Rig.....at a price. Full Body paint on our Big Sky seems to be doing well but time will tell.

I've found Keystone to have very good customer service. I had peeling graphics on my '08 Fuzion after the 3rd year of ownership, and well out of warranty. I sent an inquiry via the Keystone Customer Service link on their website, asking how I could obtain/order a new set of graphics. They asked for pictures and sent a parts list of the graphics I needed. In a couple of weeks, three boxes arrived at my front door with new stickers; at no cost to me. In my opinion, Keystone has great customer service. When/If I replace my โ€™08 Fuzion, Keystone will be my top pick.

Have you ever thought of changing the decals with other than the original scenes? I did on mine. You can find a lot of decals on eBay for very reasonable prices.

I contacted Keystone two weeks ago about our 2007 Montana decals. The response I received was they would give me the name and contact phone number of their local Dealer. So I could call for pricing of the decals. I had checked with my local RV shop and the cost for them to remove and replace the bad decals was OK HOLD ON TO SOMTHING SOLID $3,200. That's Nuts Ill keep on advertising for keystone every mile I tow it ,and I just retired I have a lot of years and miles to go.

The same supplier must have provided the decals for Spree as well. Almost all the decals on our 2008 trailer are looking incredibly rough. Peeling, cracking and fading quite dramatically. I'll have to raise the issue with the dealer and see if we should just strip the whole thing and go pure white.

It's too bad, we love the trailer. it's been great, but as is, cosmetically, it's sure not good for their brand's image.

I don't know if someone has already mentioned this because I'm too lazy to read all five pages. However, last September I was at the Keystone factory with a camping group and one of our group was having similar issues. The factory rep in customer service stated that Keystone did have some issues with one of their suppliers and were aware of some "bad" decals. Keystone took the make and model of the fiver in question, an out of warranty Mountaineer, and provided the owner with a complete replacement set of decals. Installation was up to the owner.

A major announcement! :B

WOW!!!! Outa the blue a complete set of brand spanking new decals showed up in the mail from Keystone. A complete surprise after they told me they wouldn't replace them. Gotta say .... I guess Keystone decided a little goodwill was worth it and came through. I am saying they done good & I can throw away my sign. DW says I like to stir the pot, well this pot was really stirred. Thanks Keystone.

PS ..I did have further communications with them but never thought they would replace em.

Not So

I emailed Keystone about my faded & peeling decals. This is my email.

To Whom It May Concern;
We own a 2007 294RLS Cougar Travel Trailer. We enjoy the trailer very much & plan on keeping for the foreseeable future. The front Cougar decal is badly faded & peeling off. There's also a couple of street side decals peeling. My question is, will Keystone show some good customer relations and replace the decals that are faded & peeling. Also recommendations on how to keep the others from peeling. The trailer is very well taken care of, detailed twice a year and cleaned good after every trip.

This was their reply ...
Unfortunately we are not offering goodwill replacements on any Cougar decals. However, you may have any Keystone dealer order what you need from our parts department.
"No mention of How To Take Care Of The Decals"

This was my response to their email ...

Thank you for your response.
No problem. I'll just make a sign, stand it up against the trailer stating how Keystone's lack of customer service is .. in replacing a couple of decals. Your product does not stand up through time and you're not willing to make it right. This will be the last Keystone product I spend my hard earned money on and I'll make sure through different RV forums that allot of other RV'ers know about how poor your customer service is. They can decide if they wish to do business with you. An excellence company stands behind their product.

Haven't heard a word from them.

We have an 2007 Cougar, Keystone sent us in September all the deacals for our 5th Wheel for free. I sent an email and requested them. They asked me to send picutres, I did, They then asked for more pictures of certain areas so I sent them as well. All of a sudden here they were one day. It took about 3 months total to get them. But we did for free. I got new decals for the whole trailer.

So keep up hounding them.

From what I have read I have to believe how you approach Keystone has a lot to do with the success you have. I have had no problems, and received prompt service. I don't put in any threatening response's , such as hanging negative signs towards Keystone on my fifth wheel. I did some research on the Montana fifth wheel forum ( MOC ) , and some of the members were receiving decals as late as July of this year, so I believe they are still available.

Yes, I do agree with you. I do know, it can be very frustrating and sometimes it's hard not to get mad. But keystone was good that way. Now all the other problems we had, that was the dealer and a whole other story.
