We are taking delivery in about a week on a new Class C or B+. No one seems to know what these animals are. Anyway it's a Thor Gemini 23TR. We sold our 5th wheel and pickup which was insured by the same company that insures our house. I am not sure they are the best for RV insurance. Dealer recommended two insurance companies but I would assume they get a spiff from these companies.
For you folks that have this type rv what companies would you suggest. I don't think the option to insure for part of the year is necessary for us. We bought this to be at home and available at a moments notice.

We have always carried AAA RV insurance with car insurance plus emergency road service. Even had coverage for motorcycle carry on flat bed.

I went with Progressive on a new Class C after talking to my auto insurer and several others.

Thanks for the replys. I had better get on the phone tomorrow and get some quotes. Our current issurer has never given us a reason to change, just was wondering if the specialty companies are more likely to offer better policies. Doesn' sound like it does it? Thanks again. Drive safe

What is the average cost of insuring your motor home? I would think, since a Class C is basically a truck whereas a Class A cannot be considered a truck, that a Class C would cost less to insure. Also, it would probably depend on the collision deductible that you take. What is the best coverage to take for a 10 year old 24 foot Class C?

Like some of the others I just added it to my AAA auto insurance for $300 and also my Roadside Assistance for $37,seems like a pretty good deal.

I have about the same history on this subject as MobileBasset and I have priced the "specialized RV insurance" companies and would have paid higher premiums with less coverage.

I have always insured my motorhomes with my auto insurance company. Never had a problem and the agent is local.

I went with National Interstate when I was a new RVer because I thought it was important to go with a company well versed in the details of RV issues. I received no communication from them after the initial signup and considered myself a distant number to them. After a year and time to study and think about it I changed to my auto and home insurer. They have a category for RVs and are also prepared for the issues and I got a multiple account discount. I have been a very low claim customer there for 40 years, have a relationship with my local agent, and feel more likely to be of value to them as a continuing customer. I think the value of an "RV insurer" is over-rated.

USAA insures my Class C as a passenger vehicle. I've shopped other providers who have not been able to do better, even before considering the subscriber account distributions which are effectively rebates. I'm not sure about status for other clients, as I joined when it was co-op for military officers only, and not all customers may have that membership status.

I have insurance through my auto insurance company. (Actually, I also have homeowners insurance through them, but the motorhome policy is a vehicle policy.)
