Can any forum members provide information on the Coast to Coast membership program. Specifically hidden costs and the availability of campsite bookings. Any opinions will be welcome. Thanks

While there are parks selling memberships just as you described JJbirish that is not the majority of used memberships for sale out there. Many of the large systems used memberships are up for sale all the time, Western Horizons, TT, Sunrise, K/M etc. But his point of only buying if you will use it and then look for what you want on the used market is absolutely true. We have a western zone TT right now and looking at an upgrade through used market because it is 3K cheaper than buying upgrade direct from TT.

The lack of parks has more to do with parks and park systems going under due to poor management and/or take the money and run management of sell and suck all the profit out of the system on the way out the door! Half a dozen parks within 100 miles of me are now regular public parks after the membership park folded and the individual park was bought out of BK.

One more note. Not all C2C RV parks are "Resorts" We have noted that some are just average (or below average) RV parks where you could use Passport America or other discount membership and stay for half price. Better than Good Sam discount.

True..not all parks are equal regardless of what they charge.
Good Sam...10% discount
PA.....50% discount
C2C..$10

Haven't seen a PA price at $10 or less.
So if I were to stay in one of these so-so parks I'd rather pay $10

We used to have it. Most places were off our route.

We were paying a yearly Maint. fee and never using it.
Dropped it. After our home park was sold.

membership parks began to fall apart when they abandon the meaning of reciprocalโ€ฆ
in the beginning they were reciprocal membership parksโ€ฆ each of the member parks agreed to offer services with a strict return in kind style operationโ€ฆ like kind quality environment and amenitiesโ€ฆ
they would assure a minimum number of sites and amenities to guest from other member parksโ€ฆ most were allowed to restrict holidays for their own home park membersโ€ฆ
I would like to know is if a park in a winter destination area is allowed to block out every weekend or weeks at a time,
are their members told they canโ€™t use their traveling privileges at other parks on weekends or for weeks at a time during their in seasonโ€ฆ where and what defines a reciprocal camping agreement todayโ€ฆ

we have just bought in (new membership) last June used it a few times so far mostly our home park and another in Va. the part that bothered me was the fact that a lot of CG due block, for instance almost every affiliate CG in PA has every weekend blocked only available Sunday thru Thursday me thinks that if your a C2C CG affiliate you should have opening all the time....

The buyer of used isnโ€™t causing the problem, if you use them you can save moneyโ€ฆ and if you use the home park a lot and the C2C when away from home you can save a lot of moneyโ€ฆ
The problem is in the greed of the parks driving the used market, and driving some of the better parks out of the systemโ€ฆ
I have used (3)membership parks exclusively and C2C in between them for several years of full time camping and making camping fees a minor expense for meโ€ฆ less than a morning stop at Starbucks for manyโ€ฆ
This began before the economy woes long before that isnโ€™t behind any of itโ€ฆ
There have been blackout dates in the past like a holiday weekends, because the home park was filled with its own membersโ€ฆ but never 5 or 6 months straight to sell space to only outsidersโ€ฆ

YES the number of affiliate CGs has shrunk. As did the number of RV mfgs., number of traveling RVrs, etc. Downturn in the economy, poor management, lack of visitor due to run down facilities.
A lot of bad CGs closed.....YEAH!

Whether I bought my 'home' park directly or via resale has nothing to do with use of home park. The only restriction is I can not use an affiliate CG within 125 air miles of the home park.
We like our home park and use it when in that area........and we use C2C CGs when it suits us in our travels.

Buying resale and using it is just being a smart shopper.
Those resales are existing memberships not just made up ones.
Buy a new suit, use it then consign it and resale it....didn't create another suit just changed ownership of the original suit.
Home parks sell a lot of memberships directly----as many as they can.

Affiliate CGs be they C2C, RPI, AOR, ROD etc. have always 'blocked out' certain times for their own members use.....not just Good Neighbor (or Encore). They are private CGs and have 'members' only times.

We have never had a problem getting a reservation in 7 yrs.
One must make reservations (sometimes some CGs will accept if you just show up) which is easily done, and you are fully aware of which CGs & what time period is blocked out. It's just called planning.

BUY resale (an existing membership) and USE it.
