Confused

Iโ€™m confused and so is DW. Not unusual for her but . .
Why do some people have a house and then go full time only to live in one place in their RV full time?
We sold the house to travel and travel we do. We don't stay long in one place wanting to see and do more.
This is not a putdown just don't understand and curious.
Tis another fine day to serve in and for the glory of the Corps. Every day is a holiday and every meal a feast.

I'm confused and so is the DW. Not unusual for her but...
How can some people give up their home where they have raised their family and spent 30 years to pay for, just to move around in a box on wheels.
This is not a put down, just don't understand and curious.

When the kids are all raised and gone why do 'you' think that these parents should be bound and tied to stay in a big empty house till the day they die?? :S

They deserve a life too. After they have raised their kids parents SHOULD do whatever makes them happy and spend every last cent of their kids inheritance doing what makes THEM happy!. :B

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Also don't want to be like our "friends" sold their house bought a fifth wheel & truck, were going to travel........ he passed less than 6 months later she couldn't handle the fiver. Sold it took a bath could not get into the high cost of house payment (Lost big money medical bills & lost big time on the rig) so she was forced to bounce between living with her children.......a month at a time

As with most things in life....I don't worry about how other folks do things.
We do things the way it works for us based on our desires/needs/means.

Lots of things other folks do don't make sense to me but I don't care as long as it doesn't directly affect me. They can be wrong if they want :B
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I retire in 46 days and we plan to hit the road in 47. I guess the simple answer to your question is: Because we can!!! And sooner or later either the cops or the kids will take the truck keys from us...we gotta live someplace when our traveling days are over!!! Besides...we just got the darn thing paid for. Why would we want to sell it now???:?:?

Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

We know a couple that have 75 acres surrounded by crown land. They have a 6000 sq ft home beside their own private lake, heaven right?

They bought a fully loaded MH class A, large $$$. They have it parked on a pad at the other end of their lake. Runs with generator. It has hardly been moved since they bought it. Maybe slept in it off the property a half dozen times. They call this their preview of heaven and spend as much time there as they can. They are in Northern Ontario so they can access it from the end of may? until the middle of october.

We do both, travel and do a long stay at places that we really love. Everyone is in search of the ultimate paradise which is different for all. We may have found ours and plan on staying for a while.

The key word is "RV'ING" Full-Time". Versus "LIVING" in an RV.
Two distinct ways and nomenclature of how people use an RV.

People that sell their home or did not have home to begin with and buy an RV and park it permanently, "LIVE" in their RV.
They are not Full-Time RV'ers.

Full-Time "RV'ers" have planned in advance usually for retirement and usually follow the sun and yes many of us spend several months in one place for the season but are up and on the road again when the season changes. Full timers RV's are not permanently bolted down in one place to live forever!

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

We considered keeping our house when making the decision to full time. It had been paid off for years and wasn't a financial burden. In the end, we decided to sell.

Keeping the house would have been an anchor always holding us down to our previous town even while on the road. We would have been wondering what was taking place in our absence. It was something we didn't want to think about while trying to enjoy full timing.

The buyers wanted our house fully furnished so we didn't have the burden of getting rid of a bunch of stuff. We only kept things that couldn't be replaced. Photos, etc.

We had 12 PCS moves during my military career. Moving to a new area and buying a different house is nothing new. We'll do it again when we decide we've had enough of full timing. Traveling the country in the rv will give us a chance to experience many different areas before deciding where we'll settle again.

Before we retired and started fulltiming, it was not unusual for us to pull our RV to a local campground, sometimes just a couple miles from our home, and spend several months in the RV. Crazy, but we loved RVing so much that we would rather stay in the RV than the house.
