Anyone headed out of Florida or what? It looks like most of the state is going to get a lot of rain... your thoughts.

I'm in Panama City and we have a 60 percent chance of rain on Thursday and then it's supposed to clear off and be nice for the weekend. The local weather stations aren't predicting anything wild.

To us Floridians, that is just a heavy rain with some wind. No biggie. And we do need the rain.

Naturally, we had been planning a trip to the Big Bend Gulf Coast region for several months. Our plans are now "likely" to change LOL

I sat through hurricane force winds up here in Georgia in 1995. Everything worked-out ok, but, when I got out and surveyed the damage all around me, it became very obvious that staying in the RV was a really bad decision. I guess as my dad always said: "The Good Lord looks after fools, drunks and little children"

As a friend of mine always says, " little bit of rain, little bit of wind ". Rain chances are the same in my neck of the woods as they are any other summer day.

2) when traveling through Florida whats a good and reliable news source to see if any weather is coming mainland that would effect our travels.?

Staying...this time. About 25 miles inland, northeast of Tampa, FL. Right now rain, but not hard. Thought long and hard, but places I usually run to are more in the path than just staying put.

I could have gone southward, but if the storm turns inland earlier than projected, that could be another problem. So, battened down the hatches, brought slide in,
Secured things outside and sit it out.

was planning to drive , not towing, to Jax from NC Friday. May wait till Sat depending on forecast tomorrow. Looks like it will blow right over / past us but not too bad as compared to past storms. mostly a rain event and dangerous rip currents I think.

It'll cool things off a bit and give us a couple of days of down time.

I am.....but not because of the weather.

The one coming tomorrow is pretty tame by hurricane standards.
Only coastal and low lying (nearby rivers and streams)areas should have a serious problem.

The heavy rain might actually be good in that it will provide somewhat of a "tune up" for those areas built in the last 10 years since the last big one that went through the north central part of the state.
